Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Monarch Money is one of the most thoughtfully designed personal finance tools I’ve reviewed. Its clean, modern interface makes it easy to connect all your accounts—banking, credit cards, loans, and investments—in one seamless dashboard. I found the customizable budgeting features and intuitive financial goal tracking especially helpful for long-term planning. The ...Read more

Monarch Money pros and cons

  • Monarch Money allows users to link and manage all bank, credit card, loan, and investment accounts in one place, offering a real-time snapshot of their financial health.

  • The platform emphasizes financial goal tracking—whether saving for a home, paying off debt, or building emergency funds—making it easier for users to align day-to-day spending with long-term objectives.

  • Users can personalize expense categories and generate dynamic reports based on spending patterns, bills, or goals, providing greater financial clarity and actionable insights.

  • Monarch Money offers a sleek UI that works well across Apple devices, appealing to Mac users looking for a polished budgeting experience.

  • While some features are free, key functionalities like custom reports, collaborative budgeting, and long-term planning require a paid subscription, which may not appeal to cost-sensitive users.

  • Monarch lacks features for business users—such as invoice generation, payroll management, or tax automation—making it less suitable for entrepreneurs or small business owners.

I liked Monarch when I first started…

I liked Monarch when I first started using it, but it has so many problems that it has become unusable. The Fidelity connection doesn't work at all and it has been problematic for more than a year. Why are they not fixing it. There are several problems: it won't update balances, it won't let me add in all of my fidelity accounts, it won't let me add in balance history manually. I've spent hours this morning trying to get it to work, and I've decided that I'm done. I will be loving for ...

Monarch Money will not respond to…

Monarch Money will not respond to customers. It does not provide the most basic feature of all, which is the ability to PRINT OUT THE INFORMATION SO YOU CAN SHARE IT WITH THE PEOPLE WHO NEED TO SEE IT. And they refuse to address this misfunction or explain what they think they are doing. Of course you can't talk to anyone there. Terrible customer support.

Scammers

I would give it a 0 if I could just because they try to scam people with their subscription and then don't give an option to cancel it. I emailed their support and I am awaiting their answer, however, it does not change my opinion. If a company makes you jump through loops to simply cancel a subscription, it is not okay.

Very difficult getting issues resolved

Very difficult getting issues resolved. Expect at least a 24 hour wait before getting anything resolved. Other issues involved info not posting in a timely manner with certain property values. No direct assistance and figuring things out takes longer. Not fir everybody though the reviews are glowing. My biggest gripe is getting personal info listed and only a 7 day trial period is not enough of a testing period if having trouble figuring things out even with reaching support. After the ...

No customer support for personal finance?

Operating a business that makes software for personal finances — where lots can go wrong and each problem is consequential — and charging $100 a year for the software is ok.Having zero customer support in 2025 is incomprehensible and reprehensible. Yes you can get an email response every 48 hours or so, but not one that solves your problem. Avoid.

I was charged despite notifying Monarch in writing of my intent to cancel. I’m trying to obtain a refund of the transaction of $49.99 processed 6/27/25.

I love this Monarch, but.......

I love this Monarch, but... The budget and tracking app has been so great for about 10 months and I have relied on it heavily. Until the beginning of April. Lost connection, customer service is only a delayed 24 hour response. Sometime you just want someone to take the wheel and drive for 5 minutes, but instead I email, wait a day try to download, upload, connect, doesn't work, email, wait a day and do it all over again. frustrating experience after a great 10 months and risking lost of all ...

It works for me as a Mint replacement.

It works for me as a Mint replacement.Look and feel are similar to Mint, and I track all my spending in the app. It's not perfect and expensive, but I haven't found a better Mint successor so far. They can improve their category detection. Mint's guesses were better.

Useless outside of USA (I'm in Australia) due to no banking connections and no currency conversion. Otherwise would be a promising app.
