Great for Managing very complex projects

What do you like best? Ability to link several tasks together and the very easy ability to see what the impact is to downstream when one task slips. The resource management is very robust and allows you to see who / what teams are over allocated. I enjoy the ability to create a WBS in excel and easily import them into Project. I also enjoy that I can create a template for a project and only update the dates and have a complete schedule. What do you dislike? There is a huge ...

Microsoft Project keeps my projects in line and helps expose problem areas.

What do you like best? It helps me outline a project from start to finish and immediately make changes where needed to meet goals. I can also see where resources may be stretched too thin and make adjustments to schedules. The Baseline feature has been great to keep track of how efficiently a project was managed. What do you dislike? There are so many features that the software as a whole can be overwhelming. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits ...

The reference standard for project managment software

What do you like best? Stable, low learning curve, follows same design philosophy as other Microsoft products. What do you dislike? Relatively high cost when used in multiuser scenarios. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We used Microsoft Project for internal projects which cannot be easily tracked using simple spreadsheets. It allows for a single copy of the project schedule to be saved on a server which is then accessed and ...

Nice all inclusive project management tool.

What do you like best? I mostly like having all my project documents and resources managed from a single point. Task management, assignment, resource allocation and overall project reporting. What do you dislike? The user interface is not as intuitive as I would have liked, learning the interface took time but once I learned it things improved. Understanding the "why" behind how to do something with the tool really helped me learn. What business problems are you solving with the ...

Divides up project tasks easily to help manage timeline of project progression.

What do you like best? I like the ability to change tasks order and keep track of what needs to happen as the project progresses. MS Project makes it simple to oversee what needs to still happen on a project and what deadlines are coming up. When my team reviews it, they get an easy birds-eye view of the project. When using this for task management, you can sort each column by task and then submit the task list to each department involved. This makes task distribution much easier. What ...

MS Project for Agile

What do you like best? Increased flexibility in the latest version along with customized reporting and dashboards have created a friendly to use environment for project management tracking, reporting, and forecasting for agile/scrum teams. What do you dislike? Multiple projects in one program are still not as seamless as one might like. Master Projects with sub projects uploaded into project server are still occasionally prone to error/corruption. What business problems are you ...

Hard to get going but once you do...

What do you like best? Full functionality and resource management across multiple projects. It easily integrates into other platforms since the product sits on SharePoint. If a user uses SharePoint, the training for document management, alerts, and the like are negligible. What do you dislike? Not the easiest thing to set up. Of course you could just use the out of the box functionality to get started, but in our case, we have a lot of unique applications we need to integrate into to ...
