Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Ease of Quick Communication!"

What do you like best about Loom? I love how simple it is to record a quick video and be able to share it with the customer. While that's my primary use, I sometimes use it internally to get coworkers on the same page. After receiving a Loom video, a customer stated that they wanted to start using it as it helped communicate to them what needed to be done. What do you dislike about Loom? The 25 video limit for the free account. It still is usable but just limits you if you need to save ...

"Loom loses irreplaceable recordings"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom's team-based video archives and tags make it relatively easy to search for videos. What do you dislike about Loom? Terrible reliability. It will regularly lose your recordings. If a chrome extension recording doesn't upload, it's gone forever. My team and I have lost valuable recordings to Loom. I wish I had never been introduced to this product and had used a built-in screen recorder instead. The false sense of security that a meeting is recorded ...

"Loom is a great way to train team members"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom's most beneficial aspect is the clarity with which it portrays your computer. What do you dislike about Loom? The only downside is that you cannot copy and paste the video as is. You have to paste the link to access the video. Other than that, Loom is amazing! What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Loom is invaluable for us when it comes to training employees.

"Loom Integration with Trainual"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom saves the videos we take for Trainual so we can edit, upload or delete if we want. It allows us to do retakes when recording training videos as well which we find helpful. What do you dislike about Loom? At times it is recording, we want it to stop to do a retake or something else and it tells me that it's still recording the video. We then have to close out the browser and log back in. This happens only when in Trainual. What problems is Loom solving ...
