Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Great addition for Client Success"

What do you like best about Loom? I love the easy-to-understand UI—There's virtually no learning curve. This made adoption across my team much easier and more effective. Even for our non-technical folks, there wasn't a large barrier to entry. I love that the recording lives in my Mac menu bar and literally in seconds, I can start recording a Loom, without compromising on quality. I've also worked with about a dozen different Loomers and they have all been professional, friendly, and rock ...

"Less meetings = more productive time"

What do you like best about Loom? Now, with this tool, my colleagues and I used to share short video explanations instead of meeting organization. It has saved a lot of our team's time. What do you dislike about Loom? It still can not well recognize the Ukrainian language and write titles and descriptions for my videos in russian. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Quick internal presentations and explanations.

"Reliable and easy to use online screen recording tool"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is very easy to use. It worked reliably each time I used it. It enables teams to work async. What do you dislike about Loom? There is a 5 minute time limit on the video. There should be an easy to find option to increase this time limit when needed. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Helps communicate with team members async so that work can be accomplished without blocking time of others.

"An original strategy for supporting remote work which involves documentation by video and sharing"

What do you like best about Loom? It might be surprising but I think Loom’s capabilities are impressing for such an easy tool to use in order to record and share video files. It has some good customization option for sending different types of message to the colleagues. Instead of long emails about complex project updates, I use Loom for efficiencies. I found the Chrome extension quite useful as it allowed me to capture and forward videos without having to leave my browser. This is also ...

This means that we can also save our customers loads of time, which is our company mission. What do you dislike about Loom? There is a small bug that I suspect Loom is addressing right now...when using the Current Tab option on Chrome, the Start ...
