Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Loom is really helpful for product demos or update videos!"

What do you like best about Loom? It is easy to use and has incredible features like trim videos and views analytics. I have not even looked at competitors' products as I am very satisfied. What do you dislike about Loom? The 5min time limit can be frustrating, but I understand that's the free version. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? The free version is great, as I am still new to product management. It saves me a few hours weekly to communicate new product ...

"Efficiency with Loomy"

What do you like best about Loom? The best thing about Loom is how easy it is to use. You can choose which screens to share, how to share and what equipment (video feed/mic) to use for a particular video. This is great if you have two screens or multiple screens open. You can also see when someone has viewed the videos. This makes it easy to ensure the team not only received it and but engaged with it. What do you dislike about Loom? Sometimes it's hard to see when time is running out. It ...

"User friendly and makes easy to create and share videos."

What do you like best about Loom? Easy to use and user friendly. Edition capabilities are almost fine and the options to share the videos between team members are also great. What do you dislike about Loom? Recording screenshots. I would suggest an option to switch to different languages to make it freindly to spanish speakers. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Guess the screenshare capture is in beta stage.

"No one does it like Loom does"

What do you like best about Loom? Makes async work easy. I can move my face around to show hidden areas of my board if my face is over it. Easy to share, easy to watch back like having it play at 1.2x speed. You can barely tell. What do you dislike about Loom? Sometimes we do have glitchy issues with it cutting out mid loom randomly. Maybe if it had a feature to help you pace out what you want to cover off in your loom? Like I have 4 points I want to hit in 5min, so each point needs x ...

"Speed and quality"

What do you like best about Loom? I like using Loom because of its ease of use and efficiency. Its speed, the likelihood of it appearing on my screen when I want it to, and the ability to make changes quickly make it my favourite program. The smooth transitions between screens and merged camera/screen views are particularly impressive; there is little disruption to communication or presentation with these changes, allowing brainstorming to continue without problems. In addition, the ...

"Great tool for quick collabs and how-to's"

What do you like best about Loom? I love how easy Loom is to use. You click the icon on your toolbar, tell it what you want to record, and you just go. I use it all of the time to send clients videos on quick how-to's if it is something that may be confusing via email. What do you dislike about Loom? It took some tinkering to get it set up on my mac, but that's between my IT guy and Loom. I don't think it was really a Loom issue, but so far that is the only issue I have encountered ...
