Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Loom is awesome"

What do you like best about Loom? - Loom is intuitive and easy to use - I can easily show others on my team how to do a task, so delegation / documentation of processes is smooth on both sides - Everyone can access the video via the link, so it is also easy to share looms externally. Sometimes I make looms for our customers to show them how to make the most of our (online) product. I love that I don't have to fuss around with permissions or downloads/attachments; I can just send them a loom ...

"Saves me time and make me a better teacher!"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom allows me to share quick tutorials with my students that help them more quickly and easily understand tasks I'm asking of them. It saves me time since I don't have to create PDF docs with screen captures and typed explanations. What do you dislike about Loom? I guess the only downside is that sometimes I need 6 minutes to share what I'm trying to teach. But that just means it forces me to be more concise. I wouldn't change anything. What problems is ...

"Loom makes short explainer clips super easy and professional"

What do you like best about Loom? So quick to get started, and creates instant cloud based link to a professional looking screen grab explainer vid. What do you dislike about Loom? Only that my organisation haven't upgraded me to pro yet, so I can use more freely... but I still think the free service is generous and excellent. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Saves scheduling and taking zoom calls and gives receiver flexibility to watch at their own convenience, ...

"Easy to use despite the time limit."

What do you like best about Loom? Ease of use. It's easy to integrate and get started quickly. What do you dislike about Loom? The 5-minute time limit with the automatic cutoff. I miss the old usability but understand the reason for the change. It would be nice to have the option to start a 2nd 5-minute video and paste them together should someone upgrade to a paid plan. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Explaining new tools /w tutorials.

"Smooth and seamless mostly."

What do you like best about Loom? Easy and simple extensions in my browser and tool bar. What do you dislike about Loom? There was a lot of bugs recently but they seem to have been fixed. The only thing I don't like about this is when it doesn't work as intended. OH you must turn auto copy of the link after you have finished recording back on. I keep pasting the last thing in my clipboard as I am so used to it. So people on my team are getting random links and messages lol not ideal. What ...

"Reliable, easy, time saver"

What do you like best about Loom? My favorite thing about Loom is -> it significantly reduces the number of meetings I have in a week. I started using Loom to make training videos for new hires. After seeing how useful and easy it was to communicate via Loom, I now use it for everyday communications with folks - answering questions, explaining processes and programs, sending new ideas, etc. I use Loom way more often than I expected. I also consistently get positive feedback from those I ...
