Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"The Ideal Video Messaging Tool"

What do you like best about Loom? I found it user-friendly and didn't have to leave the platform to access and locate the correct tutorials and resources. The editing tools are great, specifically the trimming tool. I didn't have a chance to use it, but I can see how this would be useful for updating tutorials without re-recording the content. Ultimately, Loom is an excellent way to send video messages, but it does have other applications. For example, you can pre-record a webinar and give ...

"super helpful for cross collaborations"

What do you like best about Loom? I work with a lot of async teams, and this is an easy way to review designs or show demos without having to do lots of documentation or worry about file size. Screen recordings are very clear, and the tool is easy to use. What do you dislike about Loom? The first time I used it, I tried to record but realized I didn't have permissions. It would have been nice if there was a contact person listed, I had to go find the info. What problems is Loom solving and ...

"Great Video Platform"

What do you like best about Loom? Very easy to use, convenient and has tools that allow you to edit videos. What do you dislike about Loom? Nothing I can think of other than the time it takes to upload larger videos, but that can't really be avoided. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Keeps our organization informed of changes that may not warrant a departmental meeting or if there is limited time.

"Best Recording Software"

What do you like best about Loom? It is very user-friendly and I love that you can do everything on it. My team uses it to record Solution and Design work and it gives us the capability to comment and review projects in our own time. What do you dislike about Loom? The only thing that I will at is the ability to write scripts and use an AI bot to read them while the video plays. Some of the team members are shy and are reluctant to make videos because of this.
