Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Great UX and my customers love it too!"

What do you like best about Loom? I love how easy it is to use and I really appreciate how I've been able to integrate it into my client reach outs as well as for any internal company training or whatever else is needed. What do you dislike about Loom? Sometimes when you first record a video and want to edit out mistakes or just edit the clip, in general, it actually stays frozen for a hot minute and you have to exit out of the editing and try again, this happens 90% of the time, but its a ...

"Must have for async-first teams!"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom helps me to communicate new designs, process changes, and minor feedback quickly for our teams rather than trying to type everything out in a way that's long enough to cover everything but short enough to not put the audience to sleep after reading your novel of an update. There are plenty of communications that would have historically required a short meeting and are now covered by Loom to let the team consume the information when they're most ready ...

"A critical tool in our Instructional toolkit"

What do you like best about Loom? We've been onboarding team members to a new CRM for the past year, and Loom has been a critical part of our instructional toolkit. Because all the features in the CRM are so new, describing things over text in an email can sometimes lead to more confusion. In these cases, being able to record a Loom to essentially show people what I'm talking about has been a lifesaver and a game changer. I've encouraged other teammates to record Looms themselves when they ...

"Loom is a great product"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is easy to use, feels friendly and produces great videos to send to our SaaS users. I was also able to easily use it to piece together sections of video into a larger overall one, which meant I didn't need to waste time using complex video editing software. What do you dislike about Loom? It's a fantastic product. One challenge I had was in managing the auto-generated transcript of my Loom video. Very occasionally it didn't get the words right, but I ...
