Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"User-Friendly, Great Features,"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Great for informational & training videos within the company, as well as for clients & customers. Multiple options for access levels and organization which makes it easy to find what you're looking for without having to dig! What do you dislike about Loom? Honestly not much I'd put as a con of using the platform - once you get the hang of it & learn the best way for you to utilize, whether it's uploading a ...

"Incredible tool for businesses"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is super user friendly and efficent. I use this a lot to record myself doing tasks that other will be doing and Loom makes it super simple to record, pause and even edit your videos. What do you dislike about Loom? When you download the desktop app, lately I have been having an issue with the tool bar dissapearing. I then have to go to my search bar and find Loom again. Kinda weird but proabably some type of bug. What problems is Loom solving and how ...

"Loom is pretty much my fave"

What do you like best about Loom? I'm really happy I discovered Loom. I love how easy it is to use, and that you can integrate it into Chrome for easy access. I use it for sending video messages to my business support people, as well as walking clients through proposals or doing kickoff videos for my clients. It's helpful that you can save videos into folders, and that you can combine multiple videos right on loom and edit them into one. Overall, the functionality is really easy to use and ...

"Crucial tool in our daily workflow"

What do you like best about Loom? Our team uses Loom for asynchronous communication and feedback all the time. When an email won't cut it (or will take longer to type out), but a meeting is cumbersome to schedule, Loom to the rescue. What do you dislike about Loom? The new AI feature that titles and "sections" off your video are a fun look at AI in action, but we haven't seen a lot of added value from them. Could be that our use-case is shorter videos that don't need as much sectioning off. ...

"Loom is the easiest way to respond to complex questions and explain complex ideas for training."

What do you like best about Loom? It has saved me so much time. They say a picture is worth 1000 words... A video is worth far more. It allows me to explain my response or question with the full context of screen sharing. I also love the automated title and summary, which saves me even more time. What do you dislike about Loom? Not much to dislike. Sometimes the summary misses the mark by mis-spelling words or making words up. It's still easier to fix than writing an entire summary. What ...

"Has saved me from so many meetings!"

What do you like best about Loom? I really do love being able to record walkthroughs for my clients and send them for them to watch at their convenience rather than having to schedule so many meetings! It's easy and user friendly to record videos. LOVE the ability to PAUSE in the middle of a recording! So helpful! What do you dislike about Loom? The only thing I can think of is that I'd like to be able to customize the canvases more... like with my brand fonts and colors. What problems is ...

"Loom was a no-brainer decision!"

What do you like best about Loom? I love how easy Loom is to use. It's easy to record both myself and my screen, it's easy to edit the video and create clips or add elements. It's super easy to share the link or download the video to upload elsewhere. You also get tons of value no matter what tier you're on and that's the best part. What do you dislike about Loom? The video editor could be more robust, but I can't complain when it comes to value for price. What problems is Loom solving and ...

"Loom - perfect for team + client communication"

What do you like best about Loom? My favorite part about Loom is how it saves me at least 1 meeting every single day. It also allows me to quickly share tasks I need completed with my team faster than writing them. And video makes it easier to provide the context I need to get things done. That means less back and forth and more productive days – with LESS meetings What do you dislike about Loom? My least favorite parts of Loom are: 1. you can't move the recording widget (at least I can't ...

"Love Loom! Incredibly easy to use & powerful for async communication."

What do you like best about Loom? I like that Loom makes it so easy to record a screen share quickly, get it edited, and share to the team with no fuss. Compared to using Zoom, recording, and going through an editing event, this is a time and work saver! What do you dislike about Loom? My only issue with Loom has been remedied in the past year! They had a slight delay when trying to upload & edit quickly in that the video needed additional processing/upload time before you were able to ...

"Save time and share design updates more frequently"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is so easy to use and saves me hours each week in helping me communicate my design ideas to the team. By using Loom to walk through design decisions, I'm able to provide valuable context and insights without having to schedule another meeting. What do you dislike about Loom? The commenting and notifications system around commenting could be better. I would love to get notified when someone comments on my comment. Also, clicking on a comment should jump ...
