Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Great for presenting when not able to meet in person"

What do you like best about Loom? Once it is set up, it's easy to use. The control buttons are easy to get to. The customers love the personalized video we create to present quote options. What do you dislike about Loom? The microphone settings change on their own. I've already created a 20-minute video only to find out the microphone was not on. Very frustrated. Recommendations to others considering Loom: Make sure your Mic settings are correct before recording What problems is Loom ...

"love the concept but had trouble"

What do you like best about Loom? I love the idea of being able to create and send and also receive and watch videos from others. It's a super helpful concept. What do you dislike about Loom? When I made my first, very short video (and my wifi connection was fine), it never loaded. Also, I couldn't get the sound to work (my microphone). What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? quickly explaining something to a client without having to type it all out

"Useful product"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom lets you record longer videos than other services (like Jing), and edit them. These are great features that set their service apart, and make better quality videos that are clear and concise. What do you dislike about Loom? Loom isn't as quick and easy to use as Jing, so I still use Jing when I need to quickly make a video for a customer. Loom is great for when I have a few minutes, but does take longer to finish the video. Recommendations to others ...

"I Use this every day"

What do you like best about Loom? I use it to record training videos and to help troubleshoot any issues that come up. It really helps to show people your screen and to associate a voice and face with the message. What do you dislike about Loom? Nothing really. It would be great if you could more easily organize a professional looking library that you could share publicly. Recommendations to others considering Loom: Pretty easy to get up and running. Have had multiple customers ask what I ...

"Most Simple Browser based Video Recorder"

What do you like best about Loom? I like the simplicity of using the software with their chrome extension. You can just click on one button on the top of the browser and you are all ready to start recododing your video. Really great experience, and because of that I have been able to record a lot more tutorial videos for my chatbot builder product, than i would have been able to otherwise. What do you dislike about Loom? Well, sometimes the application crashes horribly, and i have lost some ...

"Easiest way to record videos on Chrome"

What do you like best about Loom? Just the simplicity and immediacy of this tool. It's just wonderful, and it's easy to share without having to save the video onto my personal hard drive What do you dislike about Loom? It used to have a buggy login interface, which is now resolved. Sometimes I wish it allowed me to easily overlay some simple text (as I feel shy to talk on my video/tutorial) Recommendations to others considering Loom: Make some quick 1-2 minute videos and experiment with the ...
