Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Essential for remote work communications"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is a necessary addition to our remote team's *communication stack*, filling a middle ground between asynchronous written communication and real-time calls. It's essential to be considerate of team members' learning styles, and some people just respond better to visual & audio communication--Loom is a great tool to serve this need. Our business often works with complex ideas and processes, so visual records like a Loom video can be a better store of ...

"Loom saves me a ton of email back and forth with customers"

What do you like best about Loom? The best thing about Loom, in my opinion, is that you are able to create demo videos of the software that you support instead of spending time writing out directions and sending screenshots via email. That can take a lot longer than you think to make impactful directions that don't require follow up. The other thing that I really enjoy is that it eliminates the need for quick connect meetings because you can provide video updates to customers or fellow ...

"Best communication tool for remote/asynchronous teams."

What do you like best about Loom? I like that loom is simple to use and provides a better way to communicate asynchronously with teams. It allows you to record the screen also and do small presentations to facilitate conveying the right message with your teams and reduce the possibility of misinterpretation on written text. It's like having asynchronous meetings that you can prepare for. It is also great for internal communications. What do you dislike about Loom? I would not say dislike, ...

Its captures the desktop and sound really well. Videos are stored in the cloud for later use What do you dislike about Loom? At the moment there isn't anything bad I can say. "So many meetings cancelled thanks to video"

What do you like best about Loom? You don't have to hold a meeting just to explain something with a little bit of depth. Enter Loom, the little app that will save your life at work. Loom just works. It records. It uploads fast (videos are available instantly). It has a browser extension. It doesn't try too hard—instead, it does its job really really well. What do you dislike about Loom? I like most everything about Loom. Maybe I wish it were easier to clean up my videos. It's just, I make ...

"Perfect for documenting & onboarding team mates"

Pricing has gone up, and now there is a 10min time limit of videos What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Onboarding team colleagues when working remote.
