Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Great Free Tool for a variety of uses"

What do you like best about Loom? It's handy for product walkthroughs or short tutorials - new user onboarding questions, asynchronous customer service instruction videos, and more. What do you dislike about Loom? If you are using video and screen sharing, or reading from a script, then you aren't looking at the camera. Also, to start and stop the recording, you have to find the interface and button, so the start and end of the video needs cutting. What problems is Loom solving and how is ...

"Great option to start sending out video messages"

What do you like best about Loom? It has to be their chrome plugin. It makes creating video messages really easy, especially when you need to record a screen and getting into the app or platform can just take too long. You just launch your browser, click the button on your app bar on Chrome and you're ready to go. What do you dislike about Loom? At this point I don't there's anything I don't like, I'm a steady user who rips the benefit out of the tool since day 1! Recommendations to others ...

"Save time, use video instead of article"

What do you like best about Loom? The most I like about LOOM is how I can start recording a video within just three-four clicks. Also, I can record me and the screen at the same time, which is more convenient as sometimes our emotion/expression says a lot. I can easily send someone an explanation video or some instruction, where writing even a thousand letter message wouldn't be as good and as clear. What do you dislike about Loom? It limits the video to 5 minutes, I thought it should have ...

"Great Video Recording/Editing Software!"

What do you like best about Loom? I love that the software is super user-friendly and can easily be accessed from the Chrome extension! What do you dislike about Loom? The Chrome extension can go on the fritz at times and it can take a bit to get it back to regular function. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? I wanted an easy way to be able to record videos for my online course and it's been great! It can record, edit, and link it readily to anything I need! And ...

"Great video recording platform"

What do you like best about Loom? It is available as a chrome plugin which you can directly download and start using it by signing up. Very easy to use for the beginners and within two clicks the recording will be started and the main thing is it will be stored in cloud by default and you can download it anytime inside from your account. One platform that has everything you need to record and maintain. Even you can trim the recordings based on time and save it as new file or replace the ...

"Full of bugs"

What do you like best about Loom? I'm struggling with what to say here as I've had a large number of issues that have materially damaged my business. What do you dislike about Loom? Bugs! The product constantly crashes, and is full of weird bugs and quirks. New ones seem to be introduced regularly. The problem with this is you can easily lose 30 mins of work with one software crash. In one week I've lost several hours of work before. I'm now looking for an alternative but I'm locked into ...

"Simply the best screen recorder for me"

What do you like best about Loom? I love the simplicity and ease of use of loom. I've tried replacing them when their price went up a bit and I couldn't do it. The fact that I can record and have a cloud link in seconds is huge. I use this app every day in my business. What do you dislike about Loom? The only thing I dislike is the cost. Having to pay every month adds up quickly for a simple tool. However I love what it does and it's worth it. What problems is Loom solving and how is that ...
