Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Quick and easy to use video capturing program"

What do you like best about Loom? Very easy to make a video and record. Use it mostly for training purposes: Record myself doing a task or project and save it in our drive as a trianing video so that others can go back and check it out What do you dislike about Loom? Wish there was a feature to cut video to only share a specific part of my screen, rather than my entire desktop so notifications dont appear. Recommendations to others considering Loom: Create a drive folder with use cases so ...

"Great for creating quick engaging training videos"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is incredibly easy to use and it saves me so much time in training. I work with a lot of C-Level executives who need to help their teams learn how to use new features within our program. Now instead of spending time creating PowerPoint presentations and hosting several webinars that people are half paying attention to, I can take 15 minutes or so and create a live demo that can be shared with hundreds of customers at one time, but the video component ...

"Loom has completely changed the way I do business"

What do you like best about Loom? Pretty much everything - a 60-second video message can probably communicate as much or more than what a long, written email of several paragraphs can convey. All those nuances lost in written communication are present in a recorded talking video. Ever since I started using Loom, the time and mental energy I spent on both internal and client- and prospect-facing communications has gone down, while the quality of communication has increased. What do you ...

"Awesome Video Recording Application"

What do you like best about Loom? I love using loom when I have to record my screen for videos for social media advertising. It's straightforward to use and work. Not much training is needed to manage Loom. What do you dislike about Loom? There isn't anything I dislike about Loom. It's a very helpful application to have. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? It helps me screen record on the actual screen instead of having to record it through my phone and the content ...

"Works as advertised"

What do you like best about Loom? The compatibility with MAC OS is excellent. The app works like it's supposed to, and it's pretty intuitive. What do you dislike about Loom? The app randomly opens and closes without me doing anything. It hasn't happened in a while, but it did happen about 3/4 times. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? It's good for explaining complex systems and softwares to collagues. Having an audio-visual tool is useful.

"unusable due to frequent unsupported versions"

What do you like best about Loom? Ability to quickly create and post videos What do you dislike about Loom? Too many app updates. Every time I go to create a video, the version of loom that I downloaded a few days ago is unsupported. It doesn't automatically update correctly - it's stuck downloading. Quitting and relaunching fixes it but it's slow to download. All of the benefits of quick video creation are lost because I have to update the software a few times a week. They need to support ...

"Horrible tool. Not recommended for anyone who is serious."

What do you like best about Loom? That it is a free tool, as I would not want to be paying for such a bug-filled piece of software =( What do you dislike about Loom? The entire interface is less than ideal, however the main issue is with the lack of error reporting before recording. We've lost so many videos due to looms terrible software, hours and hours of videos have been lost over the years. It is now banned in our business, we dont allow our team members to use loom due to the ...

"Loom weaves it all together!"

What do you like best about Loom? I enjoy using Loom because it integrates with a lot of apps that I aplready use for work. It's simple, user friendly, and fast! I also enjoy the emoji reactions and comment feature. What do you dislike about Loom? It's mobile app can be a tad bit lagging and I don't like that when you rotate your screen, it doesn't recognize a landscape layout. To get around that, I sometimes open in my browser. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting ...

"Best screen recorder"

What do you like best about Loom? Simple and Easy to use , clear instructions on what to do. Beinmg able to pause whilst making a video if I lost my train of thought is one of the best features. It comparison to others out there which when looking at there are multi pages of advanced video editing and Loom just doesn't over complicate its product. What do you dislike about Loom? There is nothing that I can find fault with, and it does what it says it does with no complication. For advanced ...

"Easiest Recording and Snapshot tool!"

What do you like best about Loom? Really great desktop extension that allows me to easily record or create screenshots with guiding visuals and audio. Love that you can create separate folders to share with colleagues as well What do you dislike about Loom? I wish there was the ability to generate a .gif from a video recording. Could be helpful when sharing short-form videos via email. Would also be neat if we could add markings to videos and screenshots directly from Loom! What problems is ...
