Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Game Changer for Remote Work!"

What do you like best about Loom? We use Loom so much that we've blogged about it! Here's what we had to say: "In a largely virtual world, Loom is the platform we never knew we needed. It has made communication between team members and clients easier than ever. We use the platform to review metrics for clients and send along with their PDF reports in email. We use it to provide quick tutorials or to give marketing tips in our TipJar series. The feedback we have received from clients is ...

"Made my work life 1000 times easier"

What do you like best about Loom? I genuinely use Loom at least 5 times per week. - Allows me to communicate the tone of my message SO much better than I would via email - So much faster than writing an email and including screenshots - Saves time in meetings - Helps us actually accommodate different working hours (e.g. multiple timezones, parents' schedules, etc) What do you dislike about Loom? There are very infrequent little technical blips, and sometimes there's a lag in the camera ...

"Cut the number of meetings we were having in half!"

What do you like best about Loom? I am able to review clients websites and explaine proposals without having to jump on Zoom every 10-15 minutes. It has saved us so much time - and our clients feel informed. What do you dislike about Loom? If my dog starts barking in a video, I can't pause and go back 15 seconds to resay what I just said. It would be nice to be able to ease what was said and rerecord. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? The time I used to spend on ...

"A must have for any service oriented business"

What do you like best about Loom? There are so many things! For one, the intuitiveness of it. I have to record videos to give feedback to my students and even if they've never used Loom before they know exactly how to interact with it and record responses back. It helps keep us organized. I also film a lot of videos for our course and to demonstrate things for our students. The ability to add time-stamped emojis is a lot of fun and also helps me understand what students found most ...

"A must have for today’s remote working environment"

What do you like best about Loom? The main use for Loom is to send and receive async updates across our various teams. It's so easy to create a loom on specific topics and over specific documents that it has cut down on live meetings. Such a great time saver in a remote working environment. What do you dislike about Loom? Nothing particular bothers me too much about the experience. Having to log in from a slack shared Loom can be annoying (as that is where most as shared across our ...

"Loom Has Made My Job So Much Easier!"

What do you like best about Loom? What I like best about Loom is the ease of use! I have an extension in my browser that quickly takes me to a recording session. So easy! Loom is the first tool of this kind that I've used, and it's the last! What do you dislike about Loom? What do I dislike? I can't think of a thing. I'd prefer it to be free, but I'd rather pay the modest fee than have ads! What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? I work in customer service for a ...

"Loom is the perfect way to promote clarity while demonstrating"

What do you like best about Loom? I like how easy Loom is to use, particularly the in-Chrome icon to quickly begin a new recording. I also appreciate the circular video icon and the different sizes available. What do you dislike about Loom? Usually, I need to take multiple takes, so it would be easier if I could just quickly "X" out of a video and have it not save in the program. Currently, you need to open Loom after each video and then delete it. What problems is Loom solving and how is ...

"GAME CHANGER for CS"

What do you like best about Loom? Creating, saving, and repurposing videos is incredibly helpful in my role as a Customer Success Manager. I can make them general or specific for the customer. Great feedback either way! What do you dislike about Loom? There's little I'm unhappy with, but I suppose the window sharing could use some improvements. It should be able to "know" what that window is doing regardless of what I drag in front of it. What problems is Loom solving and how is that ...

"Love Loom, hate how unreliable the desktop app is"

What do you like best about Loom? Awesome features, great product. Changes the game when it comes to async work. What do you dislike about Loom? The desktop app unfortunately is the most unreliable app I know... Too many issues, error messages, bugs. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Async communication.
