Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Easy to use and share recordings"

What do you like best about Loom? It's really simple to quickly grab a recording with Loom. I use the Chrome extension so it's always there in my browser. I'll use it internally within our company to share bugs I've spotted or quick updates and I use it for training videos for our customers on how to use our software. What do you dislike about Loom? I wish you could get auto-subs. We'd like to have subs applied to all of our videos with voice over but would have to go and edit these in. ...

"LOOM before you ZOOM!"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is the future of digital communication if you ask me and I've yet to encounter a solution that conveys context digitally more effectively than Loom does. I use it all the time. What do you dislike about Loom? Nothing. Loom is almost "too good" for such an inexpensive product. It's user experience is phenomenal and they are always iterating on the product to deliver new features & functionality that I didn't even know I needed. That's the sign of a ...

"Great Product!"

What do you like best about Loom? I like how Loom allows you to quickly record an instance be it for a client or for training or for further review in such a simplistic and easy to use way. The ability to attach video to written word opens up and expands the communication with others to a new level. What do you dislike about Loom? I do wish the UI was a bit more robust - when you have a lot of videos you have to go through 1 by 1 to delete them which can be a bit of a pain - A mass delete ...

"Simple, Effective, but a little slow"

What do you like best about Loom? It sits in the taskbar and I can record a screen and/or camera and audio with only a few clicks. No "publishing" is required, and I get a link to send with the video right away. What do you dislike about Loom? It can be slow to start. From the time I press "Start Recording" to when I get the countdown timer, sometimes I'm waiting 10-15 seconds with no feedback before it begins. If you use it for multiple projects or with multiple clients, you'll need to ...

"No more meeting. Best async tool."

What do you like best about Loom? The rendering part. Screen recording is very smooth and the video upload is too fast. I add all my loom videos on Notion or just download them to store in my system. What do you dislike about Loom? I think it should have more editing features. or the video limit of the free version can be increased. The delete video feature can be better too. Would love to have a smoother screen capture and annotation feature. Recommendations to others considering ...
