Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

What do you like best about Loom? I love how quick and simple it is to record a video. I love how easy it is to edit. It's so plug-and-play. It's my go-to tool to quickly train other team members What do you dislike about Loom? I wish I could record a video and then record or re-record parts of the audio and lay it over the video. I'd like to see a built in feature that allows me to screen mirror from my phone for videos I record with loom. I had to use another product and the quality isn't ...

"Loom is such a fast and easy way to show our customers the answers to their questions!"

What do you like best about Loom? I'm a fan of the "show, don't tell" principle. Loom makes it so I can show others how to access the information they are looking for rather than having to write it in an email that they would rather not read. What do you dislike about Loom? It would be nice to have the option of grabbing a GIF of the video without having to click into the video, like you can with copying the link. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? This makes it ...

"Best productivity tool in my business"

What do you like best about Loom? Time savings for any kind of on-screen feedback What do you dislike about Loom? I just like that it takes more than one click to take a video of the screen without having my image in the lower left corner. No matter how many times I preset it to screen only, I constantly have to ask out of my picture at the bottom I'd also like a quicker and easier way to organize my videos in the library. Ooh! Also - can Loom tell me when the video would be silent bc my ...

"Best asynchronous collaboration tool"

What do you like best about Loom? The ability to record and share the video via URL and the email alert I receive once someone has viewed the video. I also love that I can adjust the playback speed, edit the video, AND grab the transcript from the video for adding subtitles for accessibility. I also like that I can upload videos recorded elsewhere for collaboration and review. And I like that I can add contextual notes/comments in the video timeline. What do you dislike about Loom? Nothing ...

I also don't like the Loom badge appearing in my videos. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Good for making training videos primarily. Realizing that I needed to think differently about how to use video.

"Easy to use and functional"

What do you like best about Loom? This has become a near-daily tool for me. I use this to create walk-throughs and tutorials that are much easier communicated via video than emails and screenshots. Its super easy to use, I select what screen or tab I want to record and press go. Then I can trim it if needed and send the link to whomever needs to watch it. What do you dislike about Loom? The desktop app seems to log me out more frequently than the chrome extension. Which isn't the end of the ...
