Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Loom is exceptional, though very limited for free users."

What do you like best about Loom? The ease of recording, posting, and editing videos. The embedable gif thumbnails. The ability to splice clips together. What do you dislike about Loom? The limitations for free users (specifically video count). The pen tool was hard to use and had too much delay. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Loom makes creating and sharing short clips very easy.

"Videos not Meetings"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom has become an essential piece of software for my company. I primarily use Loom to communicate on the fly with my clients. I can show them and explain data results show the work I have completed, and get feedback via loom. What do you dislike about Loom? I dislike the ability to organize my videos into folders per client. All videos currently go into a general library and you NEED to use hashtags to narrow down the list to look at. "Incredible time-saving tool"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom has been an incredible tool that I use every single day in my workflows to save hours of my time. Loom allows me to quickly explain complex topics that may have otherwise taken a 30-minute meeting to discuss. "Review of Loom User Experience"

What do you like best about Loom? Quick and simple to use. Easy to access video library and share with colleagues. Now that I have a Team set up, I'm able to create more videos. (I'm on the free version. The company won't add me to our account at present!) What do you dislike about Loom? Sometimes the 5-minute limit isn't quite enough but totally get why this is in place for free accounts. Currently, my mic keeps defaulting to mute but I think I've clicked something I shouldn't have so will ...

"A quick solution to demo recording and sharing"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom takes care of all hassle from recording till sharing What do you dislike about Loom? It slows down the system a bit, maybe, because, it's uploading while recording the video. Which is compromisable. We don't need to wait for the file to get uploaded. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? In our software development, we, sometimes need to record a short demo video explaining features or bugs. And we share in the form of video. ...

"Quick, Easy, and Clear!"

What do you like best about Loom? Looms are quick and easy to make. I also like their product integration. 2 clicks and I'm off to making videos. What do you dislike about Loom? The only issue I have at the moment is in the "DRAW" feature. I wish there was an option for the drawings to remain on screen. Maybe an option to allow for this option. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? It's solving the issue of not having to schedule meetings and allowing for ...

"Great for Product Managers!"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom saves me time every week by eliminating multiple meetings from my calendar. It's wonderful to sharing feedback, collecting product feedback, and generating training materials for my team. What do you dislike about Loom? There is a time limit in the free plan, but honestly, that's fine because it keeps me brief - no one wants to watch a long video anyways. This could be a downside depending on your use case. What problems is Loom solving and how is that ...
