Are you using Loom?
Spotsaas Editor’s POV
Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more
Loom pros and cons
Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.
By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.
Users benefit from Loom's intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.
The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.
Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks strong real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for broader use.

"My primary way to communicate ideas asynchronously"
What do you like best about Loom? As a mobile developer who works remotely with teammates across the globe, I use the Loom iOS app directly on my mobile device instead of QuickTime on the Mac because it both captures my screen AND I can annotate what I'm doing with my voice. Then, using the Loom Mac application, I can capture my screen and annotate my pull requests so that my teammates can receive a guided walkthrough of the changes and rationale. In both cases, I can quickly edit and share ...

"Loom has totally chanced my approach to training"
What do you like best about Loom? How easy it is to use and distribute. Loom has made it really simple to create screen sharing explanations, as well as distribute them to my team. What do you dislike about Loom? It defaults to naming videos after what window was opened first among my open windows. So if I open Slack at 10am and make a screenshare at 11am of Chrome, it names my videos "Slack 1/1/2022" instead of "Chrome recording 1/1/2022". I think I'd rather it just have the ...

"A powerful tool got a-sync communication"
What do you like best about Loom? As a member of a fully remote department, at a company with a fully remote (and nationally distributed) corporate team, Loom makes it easy to communicate across geography and timezones. Whether it's training someone on how to complete a process or asking/answering a question, Loom overcomes traditional barriers posed by plain-text communication. I also like that I can see when/how many people have viewed the video, since it gives me an idea of how many ...

"Loom for Business & Training"
What do you like best about Loom? I like the ease of recording and sharing with individuals not necessarily on the platform. I have been able to develop training snaps for quick communication. What do you dislike about Loom? At this time nothing; I look forward to exploring more opportunities in the system. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Remote communication with team members. In the virtual world, I am constantly screen sharing to troubleshoot, and implement ...

"Easy to use!"
What do you like best about Loom? Loom is an easy tool to use. I have transferred MSFT Teams file downloads to Loom to enable others in my org & outside of my org to view videos. The editing feature is easy to use so I can edit and remove parts of my content I don't need. I also use the transcript for finding specific content I recorded during customer interviews. It's a part of my user design research to ensure I'm tracking all feedback. I can also quickly view transcripts and add notes ...

"Loom is the best cloud-based, collaborative screen recording software out there today"
What do you like best about Loom? Loom is very quick and easy to use, from recording your screen with or without video to trimming and editing the video after you're done recording. It's very user-friendly and easy to set up. What do you dislike about Loom? Loom used to be glitchy at times, but they have really improved the product over time and gotten rid of those bugs. The only feature I wish it had was being able to take two separate videos and merge them together for publishing. What ...

"Perfect for training material"
What do you like best about Loom? The easy of use and quick start up. Most of the time I'm like "I should record this" and then I do. I name it, tag it and it saves to Loom. Then when someone needs help, I'm like hey, I've got a video of that and i search for it on the app and share the link. Makes my IT help desk much more efficient. What do you dislike about Loom? I love loom. My one ask is to create a blur function to block out sensitive information after you're done recording. What ...

"Loom is the definitive tool for video messaging"
What do you like best about Loom? Performance. If there one thing I like the most about Zoom it is performance. I have never had any issues loading, playing or recording Loom videos. I can confidently send Loom videos to customers, prospects and end-users knowing fully well that they will be able to watch it. What do you dislike about Loom? Loom does not allow annotation of the recorded videos. Annotation in recorded videos is a great feature for internal communications and documentation. ...
