Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Loom in a hybrid office environment"

What do you like best about Loom? What I like best about loom is how incredibly easy it is to use. I can share a full training or answer a quick questions for my coworkers in such a more meaningful way. What do you dislike about Loom? The only downside I experience is that some of my less tech savy co-workers are unsure of it. It's great to show them how to accomplish something quickly in a video, but getting them to record one is tough. I think it is generational and less of a reflection ...

"Loom is a really helpful tool for quick video creation"

What do you like best about Loom? What I like about loom is that it's easy to use and you can create content very quickly. It's helpful to also record information that needs to be shared with a larger audience and then be able to see the engagement numbers around it. What do you dislike about Loom? I think there's a lot of room for innovation with the creative side of loom. There are only a few backgrounds and text themes available. It would be helpful if there were more ways to edit or add ...

"Part of the essential remote toolkit"

What do you like best about Loom? The software itself is great, but the ease of adoption has made all the difference. I could list the features I use, but it's something bigger than that, bigger than features, that makes me love Loom. This is the first app since Slack that has made a measurable difference org and company-wide. Loom will be around for a minute. What do you dislike about Loom? A few times the desktop app crashed, but their customer support quickly helped me recover the ...

"Helpful Tool That Does What it Says Without a Fuss"

What do you like best about Loom? The user interface for Loom is easy to use and straightforward for even the least tech-savvy individual. I appreciate that coupled with the ease of use is the ability to make large updates in efficiency in communication with members of my teams. Essentially, I am able to utilize the tool to cut down on emails/Slack messages/virtual calls, without feeling like I'm doing even more work to do so. I also like the ease of recording built into the browser, ...

"Best Corporate Video Messaging Tool"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is the best tool that I have used to help explain topics or demonstrate certain things internally or externally at work. Most recently I was tasked with creating a demo video of our product and Loom was fantastic because I was able to record my screen, with my video of me talking, and go through the entire demo quickly, and upload it in one fell sweep. What do you dislike about Loom? I wish you could add music clips after you have screen recorded in ...

"Best way to work async"

What do you like best about Loom? I love that instead of taking up time with meetings, I can do a screen recording of a presentation and send it off to my teammates. We all know how hard it is to get our work done when our days are inundated with meetings and Loom helps take off some of that pressure for us. What do you dislike about Loom? It was a bit of a learning curve to learn how to use all the features at first, but then after you get the hang of where all the buttons and features ...

"Loom is an amazing resource!!!"

What do you like best about Loom? During the pandemic, Loom became quite resourceful for lessons and training. The ability to be able to record your screen and yourself at the same was helpful when introducing new lessons and step-by-step tutorials. I was able to add Loom as an extension and use it on any screen! During COVID, it was difficult to meet in person due to safety restrictions and Loom, I would have to say is one of the best tools we could use!! Thank you Loom!!! What do you ...

"Love the ability to collaborate asynchronously"

What do you like best about Loom? Love the ability to quickly record screens + my face. The recent advent of adding multiple videos together has made editing super easy. What do you dislike about Loom? Sometimes on screen prompts/messaging such as Chameleon can't be viewed in Looms. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you?
