Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Easy to use, easy to scale"

What do you like best about Loom? How easy it is to start recording. Between the web app and the chrome extension, it is very easy to record process videos and prospecting videos ad hoc. Very intuitive to create content, share content, and add team members to get going. Also great features around new people signing up auto adding to our account so we can keep all business users under the same account. What do you dislike about Loom? While they are not hyper-focused on the sales prospecting ...

"Using Loom has been a game changer for me as a remote Tech worker"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom allows me to work smarter and communicate much clearer as a remote Tech employee. I work in Tech Partnerships and communicate with dozens of people across multiple companies and departments as well as multiple teams internally. I'm able to easily record a quick video highlighting a product feature, record demo videos, and personalize outreach to partners with a personalized video. It's easy to use and share videos with a link that can be shared with ...

"Easy to use, straight and to the point!"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom makes it super easy to quickly and efficiently send videos and show either customers or teammates what you are explaining. Videos are worth a thousand words! What do you dislike about Loom? Occasionally the app will not work as in, it will launch, but the app would need to be restarted or uninstalled and reinstalled in order for it to actually record. But this only seems to happen if Chrome requires some sort of update, or Loom itself. Recommendations ...

"Loom has been so helpful for me as a researcher!"

What do you like best about Loom? Its really easy to capture my screen, record a quick video, and share the video with others. Sharing permissions are very straightforward. The only other "competitor" I've used for this purpose is Quicktime, which is so clunky. What do you dislike about Loom? Not a fault of Loom, but some people seem hesitant to click a video recording. I'm sure there are many reasons for this: maybe they don't have headphones in and they're in a space where its not ...

"What a life saver!"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom allows our team to mitigate misinterpretation in customer communications by sending recorded videos that can visually walk customers through click steps and relay tone more accurately! We absolutely love this product. What do you dislike about Loom? Nothing. Their feature-set is rich enough to utilize Loom in multiple areas of the business. Everyone from enablement, sales, IM, etc uses this tool to communicate more effectively. What problems is Loom ...

"Fantastic Business Tool!"

What do you like best about Loom? I love the flexibility of Loom. It can be used on so many different levels, and as far as business tools go, if something can't do multiple jobs, I'm generally not interested in it. What do you dislike about Loom? Honestly, the only thing that used to bug me before I upgraded it was the 5 minute recording limit. Recommendations to others considering Loom: Upgrade so that you don't have to race to get all of your recordings in a 5 minute video. What problems ...

"Not another meeting that could have been a Loom"

What do you like best about Loom? I use Loom most for training new employees. I am able to provide them with feedback and the tone of voice is not lost the way it would be in an email response. Plus, it allows me to point things out on my screen so that they can see exactly what I am talking about and looking at when I'm speaking to them. This sort of feedback used to be limited to video calls for me, but now, I am able to record for them and they can watch it on their time. It has been an ...

"Loom Review"

What do you like best about Loom? I use Loom a lot to share updates with my team (in place of having a meeting). I also use Loom a lot to record screenshares for customers when something is too complex to explain over email/chat! What do you dislike about Loom? I don't see any downsides to using Loom - it's a great tool! It's easy to use and I have not had any technical issues with the product. I do not have any suggested improvements. What problems is Loom solving and how is that ...

"Loom makes asynchronous collaboration possible"

What do you like best about Loom? Easy to use, high-quality videos, automatic accurate transcriptions, versatility in recording options (just screen, with video, etc) What do you dislike about Loom? The screenshare options are not the most intuitive and at times I've had to restart recordings because I couldn't tell what was captured in the desktop view. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Before Loom, I used to waste time writing lengthy process explanations or ...

"Great Pre-Sales Tool"

What do you like best about Loom? The video editing tools are great -- I love being able to edit previously recorded videos as well as combine different videos together. I also love the noficiations that you receive when someone has viewed your video. What do you dislike about Loom? Sometimes the desktop application has issues on my Mac, but primarily use the Google Chrome plug-in. Overall, it's a really great tool and there is not much to dislike. What problems is Loom solving and how is ...
