Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Loom has been amazing for async reviews!"

What do you like best about Loom? It's been super helpful with a distributed team to be able to create a Loom walking through designs, sending it to the team and getting feedback from folks on their schedule. It saves everyone time, and also helps focus meetings because we can go through the comments and questions in the Loom. What do you dislike about Loom? I wish there was a better way to tag and notify people in the comments. Lots of times feedback is for someone specific other than ...

What do you like best about Loom? So simple to record thoughts, interact with your team and tag people you require their input/action. What do you dislike about Loom? Sometimes the mac app stops working—to lack of integrations to productboard for insight processing. Recommendations to others considering Loom: Go for it!! "Very useful program for specific needs"

What do you like best about Loom? The screen share features are very easy to use and teach others on the team how to use. The whole program is very user friendly. What do you dislike about Loom? Editing options on the back end are great, but because you can't re-record right then and there, it creates a clunky editing process. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Virtual training

"Loom is the Best Tutorial Service"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is so easy to use and quick! I love that I can easily create a video and/or screenshare to show someone how to do something or to ask a question that may have a lot of details. What do you dislike about Loom? I can't think of anything about Loom I do not like! The fact that I can have my camera show me or turn it off is a huge perk of this software for me! What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Loom helps me connect with ...

"My favorite screen recording tool so far"

What do you like best about Loom? I've tried a few different tools for screen recording (Soapbox and Hippo Video are the two that I can think of right now), and Loom has been the one with the fewest glitches. The others occasionally gave me trouble with the sound not being synced right with the video, or the sound cutting out or getting choppy. I haven't experienced that since using Loom at my current company. What do you dislike about Loom? The biggest issue for us right now is that we ...

"Loom is great"

What do you like best about Loom? Very intuitive and easy to use, and the built in features like noise reduction, filler word removal, CC, etc, is great. What do you dislike about Loom? The app can be pretty glitchy between the plugin and launching the desktop app. I also don't like that you can't piece sections of videos together in the middle, you can only tack on the beginning or end. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Internal training, product updates, how tos.

"Still learning, but easy and I like what it offers."

What do you like best about Loom? So far, my favorite thing is how quickly you can get your first video recorded and sent to the person(s) that need to see it. I needed to show a process to a colleague and I ended up doing three 5-minute videos. And I had never used Loom to record. I was able to do the 15 minutes of video, label, tag, etc., and share in under an hour from opening the app! What do you dislike about Loom? I'm not sure, but it seems like I could use a couple more editing ...

"Intuitive Platform + Quick to Uplift"

What do you like best about Loom? Super easy to understand, making it to where the whole team can use without frustration + communicate with clients, developers, and internal team members. What do you dislike about Loom? If a user watches a video and isn't logged into Loom, we lack data on who exactly watched the video. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Being able to demo, instruct, and explain ideas are crucial to the development of technology platforms; Loom ...
