Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

What do you dislike about Loom? I hate the transcript editing capabilities. It is super limited and doesn't allow you to actually edit the text that much. "Loom is a great way to share quick video clicks with colleagues"

What do you like best about Loom? It's extremely quick to jump into Loom and get a recording started. It makes it just as easy to record a video as compared to writing out a long Slack message to share with coworkers, so I can record a quick Loom about a project or idea and share it via Slack. What do you dislike about Loom? There is limited editing available for Loom videos after making a recording but before sharing. If I make an error in the middle of a recording, I'll typically end up ...

"Great way to share presentations async"

What do you like best about Loom? I love how people can leave comments on specific sections of the video and that you can see the watch history. What do you dislike about Loom? I think the fact that a lot of features are hidden behind the paywall is annoying. I want to at least try it out. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Loom is solving the need for async presentations and reviews. It makes things a lot easier than just a zoom recording.

A little confusing to use at first, but needed to take time to learn the customizations, and it was great after that. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? "Loom makes it super easy to work with remote workers"

What do you like best about Loom? I open Loom and start recording in seconds, pause the video if needed, then when done, stop the video, and just like that, I have a URL I can share with my team. What do you dislike about Loom? The dropdown search within the admin area absolutely sucks. I tag my videos with a keyword so I can delete them later but the search results is really clunkly. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Before Loom I used to use a popular video ...
