Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"The best communication tool on the market"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is the most succinct form of communication I've encountered. It has all the advantages of a video call but there are three major bonuses: 1. It's asynchonous. So you don't need to find a mutual time to meet. 2. It avoids the choppyness of video calls. No more "sorry you broke up a bit there" and "I didn't quite catch that". 3. You can reuse the recordings. So when you inevitibly get the same question from a second person, you can just send them the ...

"Excellent tool - and useful in SO many ways"

What do you like best about Loom? We use this for team messages, for inspiration, for training, for meeting follow up and for introductions. It is a remarkable tool. What do you dislike about Loom? I am not fond of the social tab to use to send via gmail. I can't easily use my list function in gmail when that is my option. I've developed a workaround. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? see top line

Loom videos help us have less meetings and be more productive and focused on our tasks.

"It's good, but it is a little hard to use. Other then that, good work guys! :)"

What do you like best about Loom? The most helpful thing about using Loom is the free student feature. I also like the pause feature, and it's beneficial when I need a second to think or get something ready. What do you dislike about Loom? I'm not too fond of the natural easiness of ending the video because if I am trying to pause the video, it goes to the end feature. Or when I try to redo it goes to the end feature. I don't particularly appreciate that it takes a lot to delete them when I ...
