Superior Java IDE for Spring Boot Development
What do you like best? Every file is indexed, searching for particular files is as easy as hitting the SHIFT button twice. Gradle task integration is excellent, easy to search and run tasks using the tool window. Adding missing imports to your code is as easy as hitting ALT + ENTER. VCS integration, particularly with Git, is fantastic. Switching between branches couldn't be any easier. . What do you dislike? Since the application indexes everything, the product can become a ...

Intelligent editor that gives power to developers
What do you like best? The editor is truly intelligent in terms of usability and features. Shortcuts are easy to remember and rewarding in the long run. The variety of IntelliJ plug-ins makes it easier to customize the environment like integrating with VCS or a build system. All the features are well thought of to make coding a little less frustrating. Apart from Java, IntelliJ also offers environments for Javascript, PHP, SQL etc. Not having to switch from IDEs keeps development fast and ...

Fantastic application for software development
What do you like best? Compatibility with external frameworks, fantastic code completion and exceptional multi purpose tools (e.g. Web developments and UI all the way through to SQL management tools and DB connections in one app. Tight integration with VCS further enhances the experience. What do you dislike? Some shortcuts are unintuitive (especially on a mac and the UI could do with a modernisation. In terms of core functionality...there's not much to dislike! Recommendations to others ...

Smoothest IDE I have ever used
What do you like best? Whatever you would think should be present as a feature in the IDE, it always is. It is just a matter of looking at the right place. Code navigation becomes painless with shortcuts. I even do code reviews on IntelliJ instead of github. What do you dislike? It is a heavy software and requires a lot of memory to be able to run it. At times when you need to open multiple projects simultaneously, it is almost impossible to have them all open at the same time. Also at ...

Best for JAVA Development
What do you like best? Interface, Code handling, ease of use, we can debug code easily and find bugs in very short time, Main thing is that i can add as many classes in my projects and easily manage in IntelliJ IDEA. Also i can work on my different simple projects on the same time without any difficulty. What do you dislike? On first time compile it takes long time to compile which is very irritating and looks like time wasting. frequent updates also cause different build errors, ...

Super-powered IDE, may contain black magic.
What do you like best? There is no better way to navigate through large, convoluted Java projects. The indexing works fairly quietly in the background and allows the program to search files and navigate interrelations like magic. Multiple cursors are fully supported also, which is a wonderful thing. Remote debugging works like a charm, even when switching between different server environments. What do you dislike? It can be fairly resource-intensive at times, even on a Macbook Pro. I only ...

Lifesaver
What do you like best? I've used several IDEs in my time, but IntelliJ is by far my favorite. It takes the more irritating and time consuming aspects of coding and lets me focus on what I need to. I love the debugging features and the amounts of editor customization you can do. One of my favorite features is the split view, so you can look at two classes simultaneously as well as your console. What do you dislike? It can be a bit of a memory hog, especially if you have a few projects open ...

Best Java IDE
What do you like best? IntelliJ IDEA is absolutely the most refined and productive IDE, which I have dealt with. It provides great UI experience, editor is clever and intuitive, refactoring and debugging works like a charm. IntelliJ boosts our productivity with new tips and new ideas to become more ergonomic. Everything is fast from smart completion to searching across all classes and its members. The cherry on the cake is a very nice Darcula theme. Eclipse is far behind the IntelliJ. I ...

Good IDE if occasionally slow
What do you like best? The UI is relatively intuitive. Shortcuts and code completion are great for productivity. What do you dislike? Configuring plugins and project dependencies can be a chore for larger projects. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? All of our devs can be productive because IntelliJ handles a wide variety of tools and languages.
