IDEA usage experience
What do you like best? Support to access variety DBs and intelligent prompt. It's very smart. I like refactoring code, reformat and rich useful plugins. It integrated Git, this is the very import function that I use daily. I use it to operate commit code, push, merge/create branch. I don't use git command line after I tried it. What do you dislike? Too big, cost high memory. It becomes a bit slow if I opened more than 3 windows. Hope Jetbrains company to improve its performance and memory ...

My favourite JAVA IDE
What do you like best? You have all necessary tools in one place, including database, logs... it has a lot of support, additional plugins... In general it's a big change if you were using Eclipse, but when you use to it, you lo ve it What do you dislike? ROM consumption is not very well optimized. Also there are some additional cool features that are not included in free version. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I'm working ...

Best IDE in the past 5 years
What do you like best? We pair program a lot and having a common IDE that everybody knows how to use helps a great deal. In particular these features stand out the most, and are features that I've yet to see in other IDEs - Refactoring shortcuts (renaming, extracting, checking for unused methods etc are INCREDIBLY helpful and help developers do 80% of the work - Debugger - Testing integration. (JUnit I daresay having a good testing ecosystem encourages developers to actually spend ...

Takes alittle figuring out how to create a JAVA project with tomcat. It takes a lot of pC resources. Easy to use with Java
What do you like best? I had not had much experience with Java, though I had worked with other coding languages. The format of this app made it very easy to be able to work with the Java code my group was developing. What do you dislike? It is a bit complicated to set up the first time unless you have someone walking you through the steps of how to access your project. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I used this as part of a group ...

One shop stop
What do you like best? Its a one stop shop for most of the activities as a developer. I can easily connect with database, control my build environments , use standard VCS plugins with ease and all the support to get my work done. What I love most as a developer is that I can access Terminal right from intellij : What do you dislike? It gets slow if you load a big project and the indexing works frequently thereby slowing the system again. What business problems are you solving with the ...

Heavy Editor with great Git functionality
What do you like best? My favorite part of IntelliJ is its merge conflict resolution handling. It will walk through commit by commit and give a very clear 3 pane (local, merged, targetBranch display that allows easy resolutions What do you dislike? It is heavy and slow. Sometimes just to load a directory it can take several minutes to compile and process. Recommendations to others considering the product Be very patient. It has a lot of features but it can be slow at times. Other devs I ...

Easier than Eclipse with tradeoffs
What do you like best? Easier than Eclipse to get set up and installed. Better console and tools integrations in the UI. Definitely easier to navigate a project's files and contents than in Eclipse, that sort of thing is a lot more tidy. What do you dislike? Few plugins really work well. Eclipse plugins sort of work but when things go bad, they go really bad. Keyboard shortcuts are still not very Mac like, just like Eclipse as well as some of the Java UI and the text selection ...
