What do you like best about Inkscape? It is excellent software for vector-based graphics (SVG) creation and editing. It provides lots of vector editing tools. The most important tool in Inkscape is Node selection which is an alternative to the direct-selection tool of Illustrator. It is a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator.

Best free open-source platform for creating vector graphics

PROS: It is open-source, very user-friendly and intuitive. Creating vector graphics out of bit map as well as 2D graphics is very straightforward. On top of that, you can have this app for free. CONS: It doesn't AI files and the only file format it supports is .png. The latter is the biggest con for me. Other than that, Inkscape helps us get the job done.

PROS: I've been using this vector graphics editor for months now and I love it! It's just exactly what I need. It is very light to use. I don't have to pay for monthly fees because it's free and it lets me get my work done. It has many great tools like the draw freehand lines feature which I enjoy as it lets me draw anything. Also, it allows the import of CorelDraw files as well as Adobe Illustrator files. I can easily create graphics and vectors using this tool.
