An easy to use programme, very creative.
What do you like best? Gimp is a great editing and creation tool. I have found it easy to teach myself and to develop and learn with the support. What do you dislike? One thing when I was learning I found it hard to get my head around the concept of layers, the ordering and selection. Although I would have had this problem with photoshop as it is just the nature of the programme. Recommendations to others considering the product A great alternative to other more expensive products. What ...

I use GIMP to edit some textures for 3D graphics
What do you like best? Free, simple, and it works if you need to do simple tasks. What do you dislike? It's not full featured as Photoshop is. It's development is very slow compared to other open source projects, such as Blender or Wordpress Recommendations to others considering the product Use it if you need to do simple editing. For advanced tools, buy Photoshop. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? fast texture editing and image ...

GIMPerience
What do you like best? The freedom from charge, the freedom to share the installer, the freedom to use it unlimitedly What do you dislike? The cluttered interface is somehow inferior to Adobe Photoshop Recommendations to others considering the product Well, GIMP is an free and open source software. You can do lots of things with it. But it also has limitations. Especially with handling PSD files. Understandable, actually, since PSD is a closed format. What business problems are you ...

Fantastic Lightweight Graphic Program
What do you like best? Right away I loved how light weight GIMP felt, it opens quick, works quick, and closes quickly. This is just what I need when I take screen caps and need to crop them for sharing with others, or for taking my own note keeping, I can open up Gimp and crop out the rest of my screen, or show just what I need. Gimp comes with many of the base tools you'll need in a "gimp" program, and once you get used to it, it's rather pleasant to use. What do you dislike? It's no ...

A very powerful image editing and graphics tool for free!
What do you like best? Gimp provides all the key image editing tools I typically used in Photoshop. The ability to manipulate different layers to build complex images is very helpful. Taking a background image and adding various layers of text and shading are quick and easy. What do you dislike? Most of the tools are presented in different windows which can easily be covered up and hidden from view. There are so many tools available that the learning curve is a bit steep. If you are used ...

An excellent Open-Source alternative to Photoshop
What do you like best? As an Open-Source program, GIMP has a very active community that works on improving the program and adding new functionalities. The interface is very intuitive for simpler photo editing than Photoshop, and is compatible with a vast array of brushes from other users online. GIMP is able to work with a variety of different image files and gives the user a significant amount of control over compressing their image. It also plays very well with plug-ins. What do you ...

In my experience, GIMP is easier than Photoshop
What do you like best? GIMP is very to the point, and things are simple and easy to find. Things are placed very strategically and logically. I love being able to play with layers so easily. I love being able to do so much with a free program! I have been using GIMP for years and I will continue to use GIMP. What do you dislike? Maybe that you can't really make gifs, and some things you can do in photoshop aren't there. But GIMP is reliable and easy. What business problems are you solving ...

Occasional user, some positive, some negative
What do you like best? GIMP is the open source option for Image editing, especially bitmap (jpg. It is powerful and generally what one wants to do is possible, either with the base install or with plugins and/or filters. What do you dislike? The keyboard shortcuts and menu systems are unintuitive and the OSX integration is nonexistent. It is hard to figure out what to do or how to do something, but generally searching for tutorials on web is enough of a help. Recommendations to others ...

Good free alternative for Photoshop
What do you like best? Although it has a learning curve, it is a great tool and awesome alternative for Photoshop. I have worked with Adobe's solution before and I can say that, for basic creation and manipulation, it works great. I can build mockups or icons, as well as edit images for a website, so it pretty much covers many of my use cases. And of course, Sergey Brin used it to create the very first Google logo, so you know it's been around for some time and it's a solid tool. What do ...

Great Image Manipulation software
What do you like best? All the tools and functionality you could possibly want, with a very supportive community built up around it. Free alternative to extremely expensive packages like Adobe Photoshop. Gimp Python is available for programming automation of certain types of tasks. What do you dislike? The interface is not as intuitive as it could be, but that seems to be a common thread with image editing software like this. Linux users may have an easier time with it. What business ...
