GIMP is a good alternative to Adobe Photoshop, but has a learning curve.
What do you like best? GIMP is a open source and free alternative to Adobe Photoshop. It has many of the same basic functions as Photoshop, and the interface can be highly customized. GIMP is able to open and use Photoshop native files; however, Photoshop cannot open Gimp's native files. What do you dislike? GIMP is not quite as user friendly as Photoshop, and does not have the professional support and dedicated coders that Adobe has. GIMP does not also easily work as seamlessly between ...

Gimp Review
What do you like best? I gYou can layer photos and merge 2 photos together What do you dislike? Not very user friendly. It does a lot, but it gets complicated on how and what does what. Recommendations to others considering the product I recommend it but it does a lot and you have to work with it to figure it out. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Adds where pictures have to be merged together.

Customizable and Reliable
What do you like best? I'm always surprised at how few people take advantage of GIMP. I am able to do everything I would normally do with Adobe and more, all for free. What do you dislike? If you don't know what your doing, it does take awhile to stumble through. It's not intuitive, but that's what MS Paint is for. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I have used GIMP for countless covers and flyers. Since it's free, I don't have to ...

Useful Photo Editing Tool
What do you like best? GIMP integrates well with the other tools that I use and has most capabilities needed for photo editing. What do you dislike? It can be hard to figure out how it works. Recommendations to others considering the product It is easily used for basic functions (cropping, resizing etc. with only minimal expertise needed. However, to fully utilize it's capabilities you need to have a solid understanding of photo-editing. What business problems are you solving with the ...

Free and open source high quality photo editing. Steep learning curve
What do you like best? First and foremost, it's free. The cost of its primary competitor is a hard pill to swallow. If PhotoShop was a professional baseball team, GIMP would be an AAA minors team. For the non-pro who's looking to edit photos for a website, and do some moderate manipulation, it's perfect. What do you dislike? Just like its "professional" neighbor, it has a STEEP learning curve. You are not just gonna dive in here and start making amazing photos. With that being said, ...

Good painting program for entry level
What do you like best? It’s close enough to Photoshop and free. What do you dislike? Cumbersome user interface and not streamlined. Recommendations to others considering the product Pay the extra money for Photoshop, Gimp is not for the advanced user. Its lack of ease in using also makes it rather tricky for newbies to learn but the results are good enough for the newbie to use. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? It is decent for ...

Free, Effective Design Tool
What do you like best? Since I work in a small company without licenses for Photoshop, I use GIMP in two ways: to edit photoshop files that others send to me and so I can do quick touch ups, color manipulation, and masking. The best thing about the product is of course its price -- it's free. There are a lot of tutorials out there regarding use and for beginners it's definitely easier to learn than Photoshop is. Also, if I already knew how Photoshop worked, and because there are a lot ...
