I formerly trusted Fakespot

I formerly trusted Fakespot. However, I just looked at a Kindle book with four 5-star reviews. All looked fake. The English was broken, and the the reviews were either somewhat nonsensical or irrelevant to a "how to" book. One review mentioned how engaging the cast of characters were for a book that has no characters. My best guess is that the fake reviewer is just recycling a review. I ran this suspect book's URL through Fakespot and it rated it an "A". I now feel I cannot trust Fakespot ...

Fakespot gets Fakespotted at their own game and gets an F from my side. At first glance, the company seems like it has all sorts of great reviews when you visit their site until the research is done. Fakespot clearly controls the reviews that post on their site, somewhat hypocritical in ways. If you scroll this site, you will see the reality with both good and bad rather than biased one-sided reviews. I used to use fakespot before every Amazon purchase. Now the reviews are from the same day or from the future. For instance "TowelSelections Women's Robe Turkish Cotton Terry Kimono Bathrobe Made in Turkey 581 Total Reviews" and they had a total of 581 reviews from 2/14/2019. Giving the product a D rating. There was no reviews from 2/14/2019. So sad that fakespot doesn't keep up with their business.

F Bombs

They now seem to be giving an F to Amazon products whose reviews seem to be totally legit. Bought a Hyundai SSD anyway. Perfectly fine. They give an F to the Umidigi F1. Those reviews also seem to be real.

Something has gone badly wrong

Looked at an item last week and I analysed it using Fakespot - rated AAnalysed it again this week - rated F..... even though there are no new reviews.Looked at the company overall and the same product shows up 3 time - 2 A ratings and one F. Something has gone badly wrong with Fakesport

I compared some pages with obvious fake…

I compared some pages with obvious fake reviews and some with what appear to be legit ones and it gave the former an F and the latter an A. Seems to work, and fills a much needed role when Amazon reviews are so untrustworthy and useless. I can only assume their bad score on here is due to paid reviewers trying to discredit them.
