"Good mapping tool"
What do you like best about Esri ArcGIS? ArcGIS is the premier mapping software to use for professional mapping. The package comes with ArcCatalog, which is great for organizing files. There are many ways to use the software, if you can learn how the functions work together. Everything is referenced on a coordinate system, which means everything you do is fundamentally related to the real world. The raster uses and analyses are high-level as well.

What do you like best about Esri ArcGIS? If you need to do something new, there's probably a tool for it. Generally tools are straightforward and the userhelp is really good, explaining all the possible choices on each tool's setting right next to the setting box.

What do you like best about Esri ArcGIS? I love everything about ArcGIS, as I use it coupled with Omega Crimeview to create weekly reports and to extract all sorts of criminal and traffic-related data.

"A must have industry standard product"
What do you like best about Esri ArcGIS? This is an industry standard product. Sure there are open source options out there but the learning curve is just add high and there aren't as good resources to learn from. Community forums are great.

What do you like best about Esri ArcGIS? Ability create and edit my own layers and the analyst toolbars are the strongest capabilities in ESRI ArcMap (a program I use the most). The ability to interface with other ESRI programs within one (for example ArcCatalog or ArcGIS online while using ArcMAP) is incredibly convenient. I am also able to easily able to convert and merge ESRI products with other industry programs such as AutoCAD, Google Sketchup, or handheld devices (such as Trimble).
