Customer for 4 years, great features and tools for our marketing team

Been using Dotmailer for 4 years since moving from a competitor. The technology is generally excellent, they offer more features than most competitors, and they release regular product updates. As well as the general email and contacts platform, we make fairly extensive use of their program tool, API, and surveys. It's great that so much can be done by the marketing team with limited tech involvement.

Good on the whole

My general view of Dotdigital has been good and on the whole they are good at getting back on queries and tickets. I have however, had some tickets where there was no resolution and I was unimpressed with the integration between the email and the SMS when we tried it out. We also got very little training when we first set up with Dotdigital, however I think this is because we were onboarded by our website developers rather than the Dotdigital team, which is why there was an issue.

As a Dev, Avoid the API

From a developer's point of view, using their API has been something of a nightmare. There are some strange and often undocumented quirks of the API, such as not allowing underscores in the values of Insight data. Also, CSV files of data uploaded through the API have a 10MB limit. If you break either of these rules, you get "Unknown Error", rather than anything helpful. What do you like best? I like the variety of landing page templates and the drag-and-drop user interface. What do you dislike? It is very difficult to connect campaigns, making me think this platform is better for beginners but not as robust as Hubspot or something similar. Communication is severely lacking.

Communication is severely lacking.Had issues with being charged for salesforce integration when this wasn't working for 2+ months. Both my colleague and I raised this many times with support, customer success team and account manager in multiple emails and voicemails (you can't seem to get through to your account manager) and only heard back about possible solution 2 months later.
