Internal Collaborative success

What do you like best? The ability to segment documents and data and upload all different file types. It has helped us organize all of our business specific content in one centrally accessible location. What do you dislike? It does not include any kind of training or administrator. We have ended up with all our content in one place, but the formatting is unique on every single page. I wish there was a way to specify the company wide templates per page type. Recommendations to others ...

Very difficult to upgrade between versions

What do you like best? As a team collaboration intranet site, Confluence brings all departments together What do you dislike? This is the most difficult application to upgrade from versions. When attempting in place upgrade it wipes all configurations and add-on features. In the last year I have upgraded MS BizTalk Server and MS Exchange Server to newer versions, although more complex, but I had very little issues. With Confluence if Atlassian wants to compete with rivals the ...

Effective tool for documentation, collaboration and task management

What do you like best? This tool is a great repository for all the information that needs to be managed during our software implementation projects. We store screen shots, spreadsheets, PDF's, analysis write-ups, task lists, decision logs, etc. All of this becomes easily searchable and we have a high level of control over how the information is organized in the web interface. What do you dislike? We like to give our clients access to some, but not all of the documents in each space. We ...

A corporate wiki for Information Management

What do you like best? Confluence is a wiki designed for companies to store, manage and share their information. It's "information management" rather than "document management". I used to work at Atlassian, the maker of Confluence. While working there I appreciated the fact that ALL of the company's information was stored in Confluence. Now that I'm working somewhere else, I have come to fully appreciate the benefits of Confluence -- due to its absence! The real benefits of a ...

Great for organizing information, but my company didn't take to it.

What do you like best? I created a wiki/research database for the start up I worked for. I was able to organize all of my findings into a huge wiki, so that when I left the company to start my PhD they had a way to access all of my work plus sources. What do you dislike? We initially purchased accounts on confluence to use it as a requirements software, but switched to google docs because it was easier to use. Recommendations to others considering the product Have a plan to get ...

Easy to use colloboration and knowledge-share platform

What do you like best? With Confluence it is very easy and fast to create new articles from scratch or from template, organise them and search for a particular content. All controls are intuitive and you don't need to read the documentation or undergo training. "Watch" function helps you to keep up with updates in the entire knowledge space. Confluence is very well integrated with other Atlasssian solutions, like JIRA. Personal spaces of users can be used as private notebooks that ...

Good internal wiki, especially when integrating with Jira

What do you like best? Intuitive and easy to use and integration with bug tracking in Jira. What do you dislike? It would be nice to be able to do more customization with this product. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? internal wiki to gather and contribute information on products

A very rich content tool

What do you like best? The great amount of widgets it contains for various projects What do you dislike? The search engine is terrible, they definitely need to review their algorithm What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We're using it to manage the product documentation, and to share information in the company as an internal wiki. We could save a great amount of time as sharing is difficult in a multinational company

Our main company WIKI

What do you like best? The ease at which content is searchable, customizable and editable. Once configured, its a breeze to organise the content. It has many many plugins which (although incur much more cost allow you to store lots of different content. What do you dislike? The cost. Its an expensive initial cost. Plugins we prefer also cost. Once plugins are purchased, sometime their pricing model doesnt fit with the wiki's pricing model. Recommendations to others considering the ...
