I can now rectify my previos opinion about busuu.com, as they reconsidered their attitude and reimbursed the amount charged in my credit crad. I thank them for this positive reaction.

I am very disappointed with your policy of "trapping" customers by taking the credit card given in the previous year and charging a new course (which I never ordered), without giving any notice. Poor transparency around renewal prices, but eventually gave me a refund

The language resources are good, but they have deceptive business practices around their subscriptions. They are not very transparent about discounts they offer being only valid on the first subscription payment. They don't clearly tell customers when they need to cancel in order to not be charged for a renewal and they bury details about how to cancel the subscription. BIG DEFICIENCIES IN THE CHINESE COURSE

Maybe it can be a good practice for European languages. It worked well when I used it for Spanish, and it worked too fine when I used it to reinforce my English. The curriculum is well thought out

The curriculum is well thought out. When the language in question was difficult on the pronunciation aspect, there's a tip for it. It's not a one-size-fits-all template. Same for other aspects such as orthography, grammar and whatnot. The community is especially helpful which is beyond my expectation. The native speakers are very thorough and very encouraging. Noticeable methodology

You can see that the app was developed by people with experience in language teaching. The lessons make sense and the active usage of the language, together with the community corrections, is a great way to make you write or speak. Online classes with a private teacher are definetely a plus. Still minor bugs and improvements to be done, nothing too serious. Suggestion: make it possible to ask directely someone to corret your exercise after it's posted, in case it lies ignored for a while.

Things I like about Busuu

One of the best features of this program is the ability to have native speakers help you with both the written and spoken exercises. Of course you should help by correcting others. When a glitch developed in recording an exercise, it was quickly diagnosed by support. I just had to clear my cookies and cache. Busuu also offers live teacher lessons at a good price.
