Busuu is a great place to start if you want to learn a new language and have no prior experience. Great community and the courses are fun and not overwhelming for a beginner.

Busuu does a good job...

Busuu does a good job of introducing the basics and uses variety to reinforce the learning. The downside is that concepts need more examples and practice to really reinforce them.
