Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

  • Lacks robust customization options for advanced users, particularly in file storage and integrations, which can limit flexibility.

Basecamp User Review

What do you like best? Ability to add any contributor to an individual project and manage multiple projects in one environment. File sharing is incredibly easy as well as low level task management. What do you dislike? While it's easy to assign tasks, this feature could work better. Recommendations to others considering the product It's worth the cost to use this - you can collaborate easily with a variety of users in a variety of locations. File access is easy and the phone app ...

Basecamp for file sharing

What do you like best? It is a great way to keep things organized and to collaborate on project. What do you dislike? Ever since Basecamp 3 was launched, I have had trouble seeing the most recent messages written by others. It no longer shows the most recent at the top so things have fallen through the crack. Recommendations to others considering the product It's a pretty good tool. It needs a little getting use it. What business problems are you solving with the product? What ...

Great for covering a large amount of projects and for use on mobile devices

What do you like best? Provides a simple update on what occurred during the day on select projects. Easy to load in client provided information (I work at investment firm and we receive constant information on prospective deals. Easily able to view on mobile devices, app works great. We use both Box and Basecamp and we have slowly started to shift work to Basecamp because it genuinely is much easier to navigate because of the fewer layers. What do you dislike? Text input for comments ...

Basecamp and it's usability

What do you like best? I like how basecamp tracks each little edit or comment for a project you are tagged to. It is very easy to follow the attachment trail and comments on the screen. I use basecamp on both a desktop and Iphone 6S and it is very user friendly on both platforms. I also like the little icons used to represent who has left a comment for fast identification. What do you dislike? I dislike how sometimes certain people are left off the email notification chains. Also, ...

Daily project management

What do you like best? The user-friendly and instinctive way to use Basecamp, as well as the number of plugins we can add to better manage our projects. What do you dislike? We can't add multiple people to the same task. We absolutely need to duplicate the task to make sure everyone that needs to work on it sees the task in their to-dos. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I don't know about the benefits, but we definitely solved ...

Excellent tool for organizing files and sharing doucments

What do you like best? The UI is great and the entire site is easy to navigate. Everything is organized efficiently and makes storing and sharing files a breeze. What do you dislike? The file storage capacity is pretty low (I think ~10GB so it becomes annoying to have to delete files to upload new ones. Also when viewing a file and clicking the back button it keeps bringing up the file. Recommendations to others considering the product This is one of the best options out there for ...

Great solution for basic project tracking

What do you like best? Allows for a clean, simple structured method for keeping track of project. What do you dislike? They do not offer a direct integration to Salesforce. Recommendations to others considering the product If you need to integrate to Salesforce, be sure to have a partner to help with that. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Tracking our professional services engagements, and using templates to ensure nothing ...

It solves the problem but not always is straight forward

What do you like best? It allows many team members to participate in work groups. What do you dislike? It's difficult to find information/ specifci projects unless you receive the correct link. Recommendations to others considering the product I do not have a profound experience with Basecamp and its competitors, so I recommend that you compare alternatives. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Connection between members of ...

Basecamp brought my team together.

What do you like best? It keeps us on track. I can create separate TO DO lists for each of my team members, as well as myself. Micro-management or naggy check ins are almost completely unnecessary because each of us can always see what the others are working on. What do you dislike? I dislike that I cannot remove old campfire (full team conversations or pings. Also, that past team members still show up, even when they've been removed from basecamp. Recommendations to others ...

Project manangement or just more memail?

What do you like best? Easy file sharing, task lists. An overall cohesive view into all communications around projects. What do you dislike? I struggle to see the real value of Basecamp other than an archive of a bunch of email messages. This may be in part due to my lack of understanding of additional features. You do get an archive to refer back to though that is helpful. Recommendations to others considering the product If you're trying to lower email volume, Basecamp is not ...
