Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

Basecamp: ideal for large project management with constantly changing assignments

What do you like best? Basecamp allows departments to assign tasks to specific team members or generally to anyone. Anyone can comment, ask questions, update assignment progress, and mark assignments as completed. This is ideal for projects that are ongoing and have multiple changing parts. What do you dislike? Basecamp can be a little clunky. However, it is easy to use. Any "clunky", UX problems were the result of a previous user who did not structure the projects efficiently. ...

Basecamp Review

What do you like best? Ease of use for communicating with clients and searching files/uploading large files. I also like that it saves your draft messages even if you exit out of Basecamp. Even when you archive projects you can always go back and search for specific key words or files. I like that it organizes your work by client. I like that you can create groups for your team and for your client, and you can create rules for messages that your client can or cannot see. What do you ...

Good if used heavily, not if not

What do you like best? Makes it easy to star the process of organizing people together for the first time, and from different locations. What do you dislike? Never really bought into the work flow aspect of the site. Felt like I could do as much just over email. Recommendations to others considering the product Be prepared to commit to stick with this. It gets more useful the longer you use it. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you ...

Basecamp is more cumbersome than useful

What do you like best? It helps connect you with colleagues in order to share and collaborate. It allows you to make plans for the project, set dates, and project a budget. What do you dislike? It did not interact with other applications well. I didn't like the process of uploading documents and editing single documents simultaneously. If you have too many documents, they tend to get lost in the list. Recommendations to others considering the product Evaluate exactly what the needs ...

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We use it for organizing our annual missions conference. Great low-cost project management solution

What do you like best? Simple & easy to use. Great way to assign specific tasks to team memebers. What do you dislike? A little confusion on what is a task versus what is a milestone & what link to click on to "complete" a task. Needs to be a little better UI experience for team members. Better/clearer due dates and ways to review progress of overall project. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Simple project & team management.

Basecamp makes project management easier and more efficient.

What do you like best? As a project manager, I use Basecamp to manage deadlines, tasks and communication for the projects that I manage. The thing that I like most about Basecamp is the ease of use. It is extremely user friendly and is very simple to add new tasks and find what I'm looking for. Also, I can invite clients to projects in Basecamp and know with a reasonable amount of certainty that they will have no issues using it. What do you dislike? I would like to have the ability to ...

Great for keeping client communication in one place

What do you like best? The best part about using this software is the ability to separate numerous projects / tasks into discussions and keeping all lines of communication in one place. This beats multiple email threads which prove to be problematic and confusing. What do you dislike? The only issue I've encountered is the software sometimes adds extra bullet points which cannot be removed. Other than that I've had no issues. What business problems are you solving with the product? ...
