Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

  • Lacks robust customization options for advanced users, particularly in file storage and integrations, which can limit flexibility.

  • Minimalist feature set may lack advanced capabilities like complex reporting or kanban customization that power users might expect.

Basecamp was a slower version of Slack

What do you like best? Ease of sign in - Basecamp is easy to sign in and get started on using. It was easy to set up teams and access across different companies/collaborators. What do you dislike? Basecamp was bulky to use. Our team quickly switched over to Slack because Basecamp seemed a little too "formal". Recommendations to others considering the product Basecamp works best for much larger teams, i.e. when 10+ people need to see the same message and reference it regularly. It ...

Basecamp - a great tool for small businesses and organizations!

What do you like best? Basecamp is an amazing organizational tool that allows for archiving, sharing, and record keeping for any small business or organization. We can keep all drafts and final versions in Basecamp, create a calendar for each project, set reminders and to-do lists, and more! What do you dislike? Basecamp does have somewhat of a learning curve. It takes a bit of time to teach new employees how to most effectively use it. What business problems are you solving with the ...

Hands down the best project management tool I have used to get things done.

What do you like best? The interface and ease of use is the best, but adding tasks and collaboration is extremely easy. For those new to basecamp having email integration makes easy for them to contribute. The calendar is pretty nice and being able to see all deadlines across projects is very helpful, would be nice to have outlook integration as an added reminder. What do you dislike? That the owner gets automatically added to every project. If you are the owner you will end up ...

Solid project manager software

What do you like best? Easy to use and quick to incorporate large projects with multiple people What do you dislike? Some of the features were hard to tweak like the administrator roles. Adding project coordinators was a bit confusing been there were certain priveleges I wanted certain people to have and only through trial and error was I able to organize the contributors the way I wanted them. Recommendations to others considering the product Great software, but there are free ...

An amazingly simple and effective collaboration tool for teams!

What do you like best? From the first time I started using Basecamp a few years ago, it has come a long way. From the simple SaaS offering that enabled collaboration among distributed teams, to a full-fledged suite it is now. The biggest reason why we have stuck with Basecamp has been it's simplicity. It just works. No bells and whistles to distract (although there are many under the hood, the focus has always been on enabling us to get the job done. What do you dislike? - The chat ...

Highly convenient project management tools available

What do you like best? What can I say? I have been using Basecamp since time immemorial, and now they are simply getting better and better at what they do best -- making our lives better. I like the new look, the sleeker designs, that you won't get lost along the way. I like the instant notification every time a new thing comes up. The communication between team members are now faster and clearer now that they have card-like feature that separates different tasks, stages, and milestones ...

Basecamp runs our business of 15+ integration and marketing specialists

What do you like best? A simple way to see daily progress in a single thread as an executive. What do you dislike? Ability to only move tasks on mobile in order of importance, not on the web app. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Running our 100% remote team for SyncApps, our integration platform. We spend less time managing updates, using less email daily and our business efficiency has improved drastically over the years ...

User friendly, excellent for networking, multi-faceted

What do you like best? Being able to combine several projects, events, committees in one place. What do you dislike? Initial set up for me was complicated and some search procedures were difficult but other than that it's good. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? None after getting used to the lay-out. Information sharing has been simplified.

Basecamp, Here's what's on your plate.

What do you like best? The consistent notifications linked to my e-mail is huge for me. It has allowed us to be able to stay on top of the mountain of projects we set out to succeed. Also, when an item your associated to is commented, responded or questioned on, you are given notice immediately. There has never been a time I went in to BaseCamp just to refresh and check status, it is very intuitive. What do you dislike? Not very much but to be critical in analyzing the platform I think ...
