Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

  • Lacks robust customization options for advanced users, particularly in file storage and integrations, which can limit flexibility.

  • Minimalist feature set may lack advanced capabilities like complex reporting or kanban customization that power users might expect.

Basecamp for Continual Dialogue

What do you like best? I like that Basecamp allows for interactions either directly through my email inbox or through the site. What do you dislike? The interface is very basic. It could use some more visual appeal. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? As an online educational community, I can readily access and discuss pertinent topics with many of my peers in the field.

The best way to keep everyone on the same page.

What do you like best? We use Basecamp to communicate/coordinate tons of different projects that are being touched by lots of different people, including remote employees and customers. It ensures that everyone is on the same page for each project, and allows us to distribute work in the most effective manner. What do you dislike? We've used Basecamp for years and don't have any real complaints. We've actually tried to find other ways to manage projects more efficiently, but Basecamp ...

Great Tool for Managing Projects and To-Dos

What do you like best? Basecamp is a great resource for managing projects and series of to-do lists. In the past I've used the program with developers when updating websites. We are able to correspond on the platform, but you can also reply to users via email. It's great to have the running log of conversations captured and the platform also lets you upload files to it. What do you dislike? If you have a variety of discussions and lists it can be hard to find a specific one that you'd ...

An Everyday Tool to Collaborate

What do you like best? Email thread integration Easy to use user interface What do you dislike? Email thread can sometimes become disassociated. Recommendations to others considering the product Make sure you know your companies needs before signing up to any collaborate software. As they are normally difficult to swap once your information is entered and you wish to change to a different platform. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have ...

Great experience overall.

What do you like best? The interface was very appealing, and I love that if you left the page where you were leaving a comment without posting first but went back to the same page later, the previously written text was still there. What do you dislike? After 15 minutes, the threads are not editable. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We work with students and professors around the world, and it is a great platform to have ...

Good Platform

What do you like best? I like that you can assign tasks to others on the team What do you dislike? I don't think there is anything that I dislike What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We are using BaseCamp to allow our customers to post their issues with our products so that we can resolve them in a timely fashion. This allows the entire team to see the issue, rather than one person that may be out of the office.

Not bad; a bit dated

What do you like best? I like that you can assign tasks to other people and see all tasks in one space. What do you dislike? You cannot assign a whole group of tasks to one person at one time or assign multiple sets of tasks at the same time. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Ticket tracking and assigning tasks for website launch. Nice because it emails people when task is assigned.

Basecamp Keeps Projects Organized

What do you like best? The platform is easy to use. Helps keep track of important project conversations and stores materials in an easy to access place. What do you dislike? The number of emails you receive every time someone posts a message and then the daily recaps. Recommendations to others considering the product Great if you can get everyone on the project to use it. I've used Basecamp on two separate occasions, Basecamp 2 is superior. Basecamp one is a little more clunky and ...

Just OK

What do you like best? I like ease of uploading documents for sharing. you can also set up multiple projects with different members on each project. The to-do list is a great feature and helps organize tasks. What do you dislike? I wish the discussions feed was not listed by individual comments, but rather grouped under the topic. For projects with an active discussion feed it was become hard to find comments. Recommendations to others considering the product Take advantage of the ...

Easy, intuitive

What do you like best? Basecamp is a great project management site for collaboration, editing and execution. The search tool allows for easy access to previous projects, tracking current work and planning for upcoming projects. The suite is easy to navigate and easy to track with the team and has provided a sense of accountability which helps with project progression. Our team has found it useful to revisit the progress timeline to review comments/questions from other project ...
