Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

  • Lacks robust customization options for advanced users, particularly in file storage and integrations, which can limit flexibility.

  • Minimalist feature set may lack advanced capabilities like complex reporting or kanban customization that power users might expect.

Great for keeping projects on track

What do you like best? When working with our outside vendors, it's a great tool to keep everyone on the same page with projects. I like that it minimizes emails and it's easy to refer back to something. What do you dislike? It would be nice if the calendar integrated with my gmail for business calendar (I'm not aware it does this if that's an option. Recommendations to others considering the product It's very intuitive and easy to use. We've been very happy with Basecamp to manage ...

User friendly and great for team sharing

What do you like best? The UI made it really easy to use and onboard. It had great features for document uploading and sharing. What do you dislike? It was easy to get lost in all the comments and document uploads. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Creating a space to share all documentation and requirement gathering. Allowed to schedule work out as well.

Simple, Inexpensive, gets the job done

What do you like best? I like the simplicity of Basecamp. You can create a project template and use it to build out repeatable processes. It's simple both for admins and users to use and really helped us build a scalable onboarding program for our customers. What do you dislike? It didn't meet our needs from a project management perspective. There is a calendar but you had to manually update one date if you updated another. This became challenging when we were trying to keep our ...

Basecamp is for group based organization and daily updates

What do you like best? Everyone can add tasks, complete them, comment on tasks and add to conversations. Basecamp alerts you when updates are made or tasks are assigned or completed. What do you dislike? In order for everyone to use Basecamp you have to update it daily, sometimes tasks don't move over if you move one part of it, so you have to move everything, one by one. Recommendations to others considering the product You all need to use it as a group and collaborate in order ...

Great tool for online project management

What do you like best? Online interface and mobile app. Makes it easy to track projects from anywhere. What do you dislike? You can't move your account to a newer version without a lot of effort or signing up for a new version altogether. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Easy collaboration with both team members and clients. File transfer and documentation is easier too.

There were some possibility of sending a message to the wrong person. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Project planning. It is a great way to show who is responsible for what.

Very helpful/Flexible Project management tool

What do you like best? I like the template options. We have many projects that follow a similar format with a lot of the same starting info. It saves a ton of time to be able to use templates and not have to start from zero each time. What do you dislike? I would prefer if we could remove the main layout elements we aren't going to use for a specific project. For example, most of the projects we do don't require a Campfire (casual chat and a Message Board (more formalized postings. ...

API user v2 and v3

What do you like best? The documentation on the api is what I like the most, is clear, not very detailed with boring stuff What do you dislike? The need to use the user_agent header and type on all requests since is not standard right? most APIs don't need that What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Create powerful integrations with other SaaS products, also as a side note other teams use them to manage the projects they work on

Useful tool for collaboration

What do you like best? The most helpful aspect about Basecamp is that all of our information and documents can be kept together in one place and in one thread for each task. We work on multiple projects at a time or at least have several different tasks that need to be accomplished. Each task might require photos, hyperlinks, word docs, etc, to be shared with our designer. We can start a conversation thread about the task and then anyone involved with it can upload items to the thread and ...

Easiest tool for tracking projects

What do you like best? This is a tool which makes assigning and tracking project deliverables easy when the users are not "tech-savy" What do you dislike? Because of the simplified interface and approach, some more mainstream project management tasks that are found in other applications are not found. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We needed a project management solution that was easy to use, and did not require a lot of ...
