Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

Making my life easier

What do you like best? Basecamp is easy to use,and it keeps me organized on different projects and communicating clearly with my team. What do you dislike? I would like to be able to make sub-lists, but that's about the only thing missing for me. Recommendations to others considering the product I recommend basecamp all the time for organization and team communication. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I am more organized, I ...

Useful platform for work collaboration

What do you like best? Simple and intuitive functionality, email reminders, opportunity to reply from an email to a discussion, daily and weekly activity reports. What do you dislike? My only dislike is a rather personal and it's related that the calendar doesn't have the flexibility to be customized by the user to include more fields, which then to be used in the search tool. I think a feature that include the opportunity to create fields and make searchable any calendar item will ...

Handy, but not for everyone

What do you like best? Breaks away from overly formal GANTT-style project management, to a representation of how projects actually work. What do you dislike? The general looseness of Basecamp takes a while to feel natural, and adoption has been a problem for certain teams. Recommendations to others considering the product Make use of the trial and suspended account features to determine if it's right for you. Very lightweight and affordable for small to mid-sized teams. What ...

The best way to assign tasks

What do you like best? Easy to use and add users. Compared to other similar systems this is a breeze to use. What do you dislike? In order to assign someone a task, they have to have an account, which can create a barrier if you're working with freelancers/ people outside of your company. Recommendations to others considering the product If your company can afford Basecamp go for it. However, I would add that there are free alternatives you could try first. What business ...

Customer service was extremely helpful and was responded very quickly. The message board functionality is helpful and allows open items to be communicated effectively. For someone that is new to a project it was a helpful place to start. What do you dislike? I wished that Basecamp included better functionality mobile use. ...

Good for a Big, Busy Team

What do you like best? You have accountability with the service. Everyone on a project can see progress and achievements. What do you dislike? Some overuse this service. Not every task needs to be put into Basecamp. Sometimes I've spent more time updating extremely basic tasks than the actual task. Don't use Basecamp for little stuff. Make sure people define Basecamp tasks and non-Basecamp tasks. Recommendations to others considering the product Talk to one another about how you ...

Basecamp - what you need and what you don’t need

What do you like best? Collaborative, engaging, visually pleasing What do you dislike? No white labeling. Would be nice to apply your own branding. Recommendations to others considering the product Watch all of the getting started videos. Doing so will flatten the learning curve. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Collaborative engagements with clients which provides transparency and visibility into a project. The “guess ...

A good way for a large group to stay connected

What do you like best? Basecamp is a good way for a large group to stay connected, with sharing info, documents, questions and images into my mailbox.. What do you dislike? If the user puts a general title at the top of the message, the message or document is difficult to find later. Users need to be educated about how to title their posts. Recommendations to others considering the product I recommend this product. What business problems are you solving with the product? What ...
