Basecamp pros and cons

  • Simple, user-friendly interface that is intuitive even for beginners, making it easy for teams to adopt and use efficiently.

  • Centralizes all project information, including documents, tasks, and communications, enabling seamless collaboration and organization.

  • Strong team collaboration tools, including real-time communication, task assignments, and notifications to keep everyone aligned.

  • Highly effective for remote and hybrid teams, allowing easy management of tasks and communication across distances.

An asset for client communication and project management

What do you like best? Basecamp allows us to have a one stop shop for communicating with our clients, sending deliverables, keeping track of project milestones, and sharing files. What do you dislike? Threads are helpful for organization, but it'd be great if there was a way to make them get used more vs. people always starting a new message thread and ending up with 100s of them. It's also really cumbersome to delete files from a project for archiving so you aren't using up all your ...

Basecamp lets you track project progress at a glance

What do you like best? It is easy to introduce Basecamp to new users and allows new project team members to get on board fairly quickly. What do you dislike? It would be nice to have a feature for repeated events/tasks. I dislike having to manually do this. Recommendations to others considering the product It is not as intimidating as it looks. If used across all projects, it allows team members and managers to work together very effectively. What business problems are you solving ...

Tool for collaborations.

What do you like best? Great tool for collaborations, just a bit lacking on the features side of things. Used it for certain web projects that have went well due to its simple file storage capabilities. What do you dislike? Difficult to manage larger projects, but still can be done. Features are a bit lackluster and not a great deal for the buck. Recommendations to others considering the product Manage small projects to avoid inconveniences. What business problems are you ...

Great for tracking drafts of multiple pieces of collateral for multiple complex projects

What do you like best? Easy to add users, easy to use, good customer service. This has helped us eliminate all the back-and-forth comments over email by bringing it all into one Basecamp project. When we have one event that requires multiple print/digital pieces, we see all the comments, revisions, drafts in one place. We also use Basecamp to track on steps in a newsletter and on our blog content. What do you dislike? I would like a quicker way to see when the ball is in my court. ...

Organized, Intiuitive & Irreplaceable

What do you like best? Basecamp keeps projects, timelines and departments in check. We love the ability to upload files for review, reassign tasks, invite outside users to contribute and keep everything organized. It’s an extremely intuitive tool for us to use and has proven itself to be irreplaceable compared to similar products we’ve tried What do you dislike? We would love to be able to have version control for different files - that would be a great feature to have Recommendations ...

Not perfect but better than other project management software I have used.

What do you like best? I like that it's set up bulletin-board style; that organization is great for visual people, like designers. I like the commenting system. I like the "to-do" lists. It's easy to use. What do you dislike? It can be very buggy. Sometimes certain functions don't work and typing in comments isn't always as easy as it should be. I'd also like to have an "assign to" field in addition to "keep these people in the loop" field. Recommendations to others considering the ...

Basecamp

What do you like best? We used this several years ago to exchange files and comments with our ad agency and it was super easy and helpful to share creative work using Basecamp. What do you dislike? The main factor in us not continuing with Basecamp was our Security department chose a different software and locked us down from using others. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We used to share files with our ad agency this way. It ...
