That matters because an unofficial community connector and a vendor-supported one carry very different operational risk once an agent has write access to your production systems.
The coverage is uneven by category. Developer tooling is furthest ahead — GitHub, Sentry, Linear, Vercel, Netlify, Supabase and Neon all ship first-party servers. Design and docs followed quickly with Figma, Notion, Canva and Airtable. Data platforms arrived more recently through Snowflake and Databricks. Payments remains the most cautious area, which is unsurprising given what write access implies.

How to choose MCP Server Software
Start from the tools you already run rather than from the protocol. Check whether the vendor publishes an official server, then whether it can be given narrow scopes — an agent that can read issues is a very different risk from one that can close them. For anything touching money, code deployment or customer data, treat MCP access as you would an API key with the same permissions.
