Be honest about whether you need a full MES. Siemens Opcenter, SAP Digital Manufacturing, AVEVA, Critical Manufacturing and iBase-t are multi-year implementations, and they are the right answer when regulatory traceability or extreme process complexity demands it — aerospace, semiconductor, pharmaceutical.
Most mid-market plants do not have that requirement, and get more from starting with visibility. MachineMetrics captures real downtime and OEE automatically, which matters because manually logged downtime is systematically under-reported. Write down what you would actually do with the data before choosing, because a full MES bought for reporting is an expensive way to get charts.
