Editor's Summary · AI Governance Software
AI governance tools answer three different questions and most buyers only need one of them well. Credo AI, Holistic AI, Saidot and Monitaur are governance-first: they inventory what AI you run, assess its risk and produce evidence against the EU AI Act, ISO 42001 and NIST AI RMF. Monitaur is the specialist for regulated insurance and financial services, where model validation has to satisfy a regulator instead of a policy document.
Lakera and Zenity solve a different problem — stopping prompt injection, jailbreaks and over-permissioned agents at runtime. They are security controls, not compliance evidence. Vanta and TrustArc come at it from the compliance side, adding ISO 42001 and responsible AI modules to established SOC 2 and privacy programmes, which suits teams that already run compliance there.

How to choose AI Governance Software
If your driver is a regulator or an ISO 42001 audit, filter for platforms with pre-built framework packs and evidence collection. If your driver is employees and agents using AI you have not approved, prioritise automated discovery across cloud, code and SaaS. If your driver is prompt injection or over-permissioned agents in production, you want runtime guardrails, which is a different product class than governance documentation.
